Episodes like these are a great example of the type of company Ellie is willing to keep, and it says a lot about her character. It may not be an explosive episode, but it's still very important overall!

I don't know if you miss it or not, but just in case : Darce Hokins is the guy with a scar who was opposed Ellie gets a Special License in the previous episode. We learn in this episode that he's actually the Leader of the Mafia. It's quite interesting to have a Mafia Boss in the Merchant Guild Council.

She was a villainess from the moment she stole another company's total assets for shits and giggles.

Still my fav moment of hers, ngl it's the type of ruthlessness you dont often see and separates her revenge from most

We're entering the moment I was quite afraid they would stop the series : introducing a shit ton of possible storylines (there are something like 6 or 7 storylines in this episode alone (yup it's totally crazy), then never touch them again because of lack of time. Either there will be a second cour or we will be left in the middle of nowhere :/ (I legit don't know where the story will go next episode, the route followed by the Light Novel and the manga is introduced in this episode, but there are some stuff in this episode that could lead to something else if they intend to finish in 12 episodes). Last week you thought it could be a sign of a second cour, what do you think ?

Ellie was so sweet and good to Lunoa in the first half of this episode. Which is what makes Ellie such an interesting character. As she can go from being a good mentor to a kid, to threatening a mob boss to get protection in the same episode. Because that really showcase the two sides of her. In that she is not only a horrible person but only someone who can be kind

So... Miniature battle game armies are not cheap. but once you're in the hobby you usually end up with multiple. And then we'd loan those armies to interested parties to allow them to play a few games. It was so effective we started joking "The first taste is free" but I'm not sure now it really was a joke.

This for real is alongside my top three favorite episodes of this show. For the reasons that I mentioned in my other comment about Ellie’s behavior. Plus how they handle merchants and how it usually goes with meeting nobles. And how they went over the way they supply the capital with shellfish. To answer why it’s so much more expensive in the capital. Really lovely episode

Also has to say I love to see that fan service of the beach (part of the) episode. As all adults looks so beautiful out in their swimwear😍

Not my fave but telling of her character. you have to remember she let the 'bad guy' burn a bunch of clients with her 'stolen' product. She also seems to get along great with the utterly corrupt nun. Even the first episode. her turning on her country wasn't worked up to. her maid talked to her and she flipped a switch. She always was a sociopatch she just had it under control for the greater good until she decided 'fuck that' because the rewards were shit.

Mind you a lot of this is hindsight but there are hints along the way. No problem with murdering bandits that she admits are people driven to desperation. no problem with slavery. completely NO PROBLEM no virtue signalling fake protests. just business. Then in the episode before the revenge when that lowly guard thought he could get a redemption arc she kills him out of hand and then goes on to have the village woman brutally slaughter the leader of the force occupying the village. These are NOT the acts of a nice person. Tanya the evil is a ruthless pragmatist in the middle of what was that world's first industrial war. Ellie is a psychopath.

Random fun fact : I follow the Mangaka on tweeter. The only early "spoiler" I got about the anime is the fact they would adapt the beach scene at some point.

I also hate seafood. I am pretty worried about my Japan vacation. I am interested what else might happen with the Mafia plot. I feel like they could still try to mess with us

Hearing that people signed up specifically to DM you about the deniers is hilarious.

Living near the coast is really good if you like seafood. My grandmother lives near a harbor, and I am always amazed at how cheap fish and crustaceans can get. Obviously, whenever we visit, we eat crab or sole. I have moved to a city that's pretty far from the coast, so now, I rarely eat fish because of the price.

Even when she is sweet to Lunoa, Ellie is still grooming a little innocent kid into the ruthless merchant she currently is. Ellie plainly told her she is teaching her how to deal with bandits (no mercy) and the mob (assert dominance if they are useful as tools). It will be weird when we will start to see the changes in Lunoa.

Didrik Svahn

Oh yes I have know of this from the start that she would groom Lunoa. Especially as she helps her and her father so much. That her parents will not mind that as they fully trust Ellie

The trailer for next episode confirms they rearranged the story for the end of the season. For an arc that is, clearly, more exciting to watch than what is in the source material if they followed the same route (not that it's a bad arc, but it's not an arc made for a season final). (side note : I'm happy my analysis of the opening wasn't wrong XD ).

Gamesempie

I love how he sees the resting, polite, noble lady smile and immediately starts calling, "Danger! Danger!". I mean, he's not wrong; noble ladies can be dangerous. Especially those who know how to wear a mask properly. But still, overreaction much?
