You can understand both sides' demands at this point, but removing myself and really looking at it from a bird's-eye view, wanting the empire to be weakened and pay up makes total sense so they never try this again

So what I get from this is that the empire is not allowed to defend itself, now that does not sit right with me🗿

So interesting with the diplomatic talks and work in this show. Often when they have them in other shows I feel like the outcome is always better than this. But this was more realistic in that sometimes different parties have a totally different view of reality and is so stubborn in their view

I believe Vegeta once said, "There's no stinkin' honor in any of this..." Pride is the last vestige of glory of a man who has already lost.

I feel like there is something to be said when it comes to this show in being able to have very dialogue heavy episodes like this one. Sometimes even back to back and its still so enthralling and a good watch. It still manages to be some of my favorite animes this season. Reminds me of the meeting episodes of slime but with far fewer complaints. Hopefully after the season is over they wont take so long for another season this time.

Both sides see the other as an existential threat. That's not a place where you wan't put someone. It's Sun Tzu's 'death ground' the place where your choice is fight or die. probably fight and die. but most people will go down swinging.

It's a little more nuanced than that. When the empire won it took territory from the erstwhile attacker and subjugated its citizenry and it seemed unstoppable. This scared a lot of people. And it's a demonstration of what happens when you may be operationally effective. but have unclear strategic object'ves. What did the Empire want out of the war? for the opponent to stop attcking? it seems they wanted more.

Well usually when countries win wars don’t they often get more land? So it all feels fair game to me, especially if you tried to surprised attack someone. And it completely backfired on you then you only have yourself to blame
