Yep, at the end of episode 5? I think it was, Sword Dad completely broke, but he has a self-recovery skill so it's not that bad

I don't think it's comparable to country bumpkin in terms of action. In country bumpkin the animation itself is a bit better, but the action is more down to earth. I do like the fights in Reincarnated Sword a lot better because there's a lot more variety and tension. And here in season 2 in particular there's a lot of really shots from really nice angles that you don't see much in other anime. On top of that, you have to also remember that... season 2 is only 4 episodes in... and I'm pretty sure that these 4 episodes contain more action than the entirety of Country Bumpkin's season 2. Episode 1 had some action, but episodes 2, 3 and 4 have been mostly action. I also think a better comparison for the fights would be Shangri-La Frontier. And that's not surprising... considering the same studio is behind both. The combat in these shows is very much adaption of fights in videogames being adapted to exciting anime fights. That's not the case for Country Bumpkin that doesn't go for a videogame-like feel.

I think the sword did break before (during the demon fight). IIRC he has an ability to repair himself and become even stronger through that.
