Valve just announced a new Steam Machine, a new VR headset, and a new Steam Controller! That is one hell of a way to wrap things up.

Welp, they actually did it. Linux gaming has made its way into the living room and soon everyone will be covering it. Proton has gotten so good that you honestly do not need us anymore. The past couple of years we found ourselves showing up just to say everything still works, and that is not the kind of energy we started this with. We wanted to help push things forward, and now things are moving on their own. So we are wrapping things up on a medium note. No drama and no fuss. Life and other projects are pulling us in new directions, and that is alright.

There is a bit of house cleaning to do since over the years things have kind of just piled on top of Linux Game Cast. The Discord will stay up until the end of the month, and then it will be mothballed when the pause button is tapped on Patreon.

Interfacing Linux and LWDW now have their own Discord and Patreon, and you will see us and other familiar faces in both. The TM2 Crew will be moving over to the Interfacing Linux Discord at the end of the month to continue our acrobatic adventures.

Thank you for the years of support and for spending time with us. It's been a wild ride.

Yeah. Winning is such an anti-climax. But there is one last laugh that we will not be able to reflect on now, and that is the multi-concurrent kernel patch coming to Linux very soon. https://www.phoronix.com/news/Linux-Multi-Kernel-Patches This will mean, if Valve decides to 'bless' a kernel which runs isolated from the main system, there will be no more excuses for anti-cheat to not work on Linux. It will be the last domino to fall and not only will Linux be the future of gaming, it will also be the history of it as more and more title will only be playable on Linux. Pity we won't be having a discussion about that, but it is true life goes on and for sure I am not the same as I was a decade or so ago when I started following you guys. The Steam Deck got me playig more games more often than I had in years. The Gabe Cube will only extend that. I was actually an early adopter of VR head sets. Starting with the ancient VFX1 to the Oculus Dev Kit which had Linux support until it Palmer Lucky sold out to Facebook and that was dropped, leaving me with an expensive door stop. It was that point I turned my back on anything VR. However, the Steam Frame intrigues me, and I am pondering if I can justify one any more. Thanks for all the insights and suggestions over the years, from Trine to Silk song. It has been blast and I assume this Patreon will be renamed or something? Anyway, walk on slowly, my friend. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Bx2oEH1WUM
