Just wanted to paint a Vincent portrait, so I experimented with this one a bit~

I'm soooo normal about Vincent and his complicated sense of self concerning his vampirism and how that relates to his (supposed) lack of humanity :))))))

Colors were fun with this one, I really wanted his eyelids to pop lol

STUNNING??? Wowow. The way you capture ambient colors in his skin tone is just always so gorgeous. I have always had a soft spot for "honorable" vampires (I even have my own OC from several years ago who is remarkably similar to Vincent lol), and their complicated relationship with what it means to be "corrupted", what's still within their control vs. what can be blamed on the condition, how much they have to fight to "overcome their nature", etc. It's all so twisty and complicated. A metaphor for queerness, for the effects of systemic racism, for humanity in general?? There's no real 1:1 ratio and I just think that's perfect. /ramble

aughhhh yessss! all of this is spot on!! 😩 it's this constant inner battle of fearing the 'monster' will take over, while half wondering if that monster is his true self/ struggling to come to terms with his own morals vs. the perception from others that he's inherently dangerous etc.. Definitely ties in with how he's grown up having to play a part to fit into society re: his blackness, that perpetual awareness of how others view him, and never getting to be comfortable with his true self re: his queerness, etc. ramble ramble ramble..

RAMBLE ALWAYS. My vamp OC is also black (though from a different universe than ours lol) but I just think the intersection of race with our understanding of modern vampirism is WAY UNDERRATED lol. There's so much there to poke at and dissect.
