Weekly Recap: August W1 (Patreon)
Content
Oh August my beloved, the first herald of the coming fall. With the Hydra shard in its last stages of bug fixing and development, it’s officially out of my hands (at least as a 2D artist and project manager).
All I can do is congratulate them and try to motivate them through the gruelling effort haha.
But aside from the shard, we are back into development with a new focus on buildings and wear and tear. Coming into our sights first and foremost is a new buildable that will be required for the Hydra dock: Automatic Bulkheads. Inspired by a lovely suggestion by one of Aci’s viewers, the Automatic Bulkheads will detect if there is flooding and seal off the compartment. While it won’t do any good at recycling oxygen if the whole base is down, this will be important to isolate specific areas of damage or if you have particularly pesky neighbours.
Into less fortunate news, we bid a formal farewell to one of our lead programmers Lee23. With an already substantial workload of his own it’s a bit selfish of us to expect him to keep working 100% on the project, so instead of being one of the primary modders he will instead be lending a hand as a consultant. With this in mind, we are potentially keeping our sights open for sufficiently capable individuals. If you have a portfolio shoot us a message, no guarantees we’ll be able to respond to everyone but it’s a foot in the door!
2D, 3D, and Sound fade into the shadows a bit while we work on our covert little projects. With both tech and creatures in mind, we continue to explore the limitations of our software to see what exactly is too ambitious for our mod.
See you next week,
V
