Also to note for the bases since you want feedback, the original had large patches of black patterns interspersed with the glowing green patterns as either transitions or borders with the open spaces being minimal. So maybe if you fill the empty spaces a bit more and go with a sort of random but almost alternating pattern of the black marks with the glowing green it'll look more "naturally unnatural".
