I don’t understand her thing with the refusing to acknowledge about her family. Like she has generally but uncaring about of everything but the amount of times she is talking about ignoring the obvious implications etc and how she can’t handle it yet. Kinda getting annoying. Like at this point I expect her to be mentally comatose when someone tells her upfront what she’s been avoiding seeing as she is so scared of it

Yeah, she just really doesn't want to deal with things that are a bother to her. And this would definitely be a bother to her. So she's avoiding it to not have to deal with it for as long as she can. Which is a long time when it's an immortal avoiding the problem.
