Alexander North
After entering the ship, I quickly make my way through it towards the bridge. With Snow following along next to me with her head held high, casually making the soldiers we pass by seem rather nervous.
At the very least they aren’t showing as much tension as they were when I first boarded the ship.
Back then, they would tense up and almost reflexively reach for their weapons at the mere sight of Snow. But now they’re only very slightly tensing up and glancing at her on instinct.
As for me?
They don’t care about my inhuman traits.
There are a significant number of mutated ones on their ship that were here long before I arrived. So they’re already used to humans with nonhuman traits.
Although I’m the first one with both Frozen One and Burning Ones – the term the military has designated for the servants of the Sun God who are not human – traits. Even if my only Burning One traits are the red in my eyes and the heat given off by my wings.
Well, other than my use of heat energy, that is.
Still. We’re allies with the Burning Ones, unlike the Frozen Ones. And the heat energy is a perfect counter against the cold energy.
So the military forces welcome me strongly.
And they already have plenty of experience watching a powerful person with Burning One powers fighting thanks to Dad. Making them welcome my presence instead of fearing it.
I just wish they would welcome Snow with more openness too.
That thought makes me sigh as I continue passing through the corridors of the ship all the way until I arrive at the bridge. Where I find numerous higher ranking officers already discussing the latest wave of Frozen Ones.
A wave that is much larger than the previous waves that have attacked.
Another odd thing about this attack was that they all came from one direction. Because they usually come from every direction instead.
This wave was more like a direct assault by a force rather than a random gathering of Frozen Ones attacking.
But as I listen in on them, just standing in a corner of the bridge, I find that they aren’t absolutely certain of this conclusion.
At least, not until we all see a powerful beam of cold energy piercing through the blizzard straight at the ship. Sending the alarms all across the ship blaring nonstop.
What the hell is that?!

Somewhere on a Nearby PlanetMoments ago
The occasional sound of creaking limbs echo through the large, frozen chamber inside of a deep cave. Where numerous different spider-like cold ones watch their leader, another spider-like cold one, sit on a vast web made of ice and silk silently staring at the floating pool of ice in front of him. One showing the end of the battle in space with the hybrid and the major forces of the warm ones.
Arxal managed to easily capture the planet known by the warm ones as Venta, but that isn’t nearly enough for himself to feel satisfied. Much less his Lord, Cocytus.
So he immediately sent the travelers into space to attack the passing ship in the hopes of at least damaging the ship and forcing it to land.
But that clearly didn’t succeed.
Not in the slightest.
His entire force was wiped out. And most of it was the doing of a single warm one.
It’s shameful.
So very shameful.
Yet there isn’t much he can do to solve the situation.
Arxal doesn’t have the space-faring evolution that the travelers have. And their planet has only just now begun birthing travelers.
Travelers are one of the races of cold one that require the most cold energy to form, with said cold energy needing to be as pure as possible. Making it nearly impossible for travelers to form on a planet full of warm ones.
No other cold one can float through any open space without requiring the expenditure of cold energy or the flapping of any sort of wings.
So no other cold one is capable of moving freely through the empty vacuum of space.
But there are just no travelers powerful enough to take on the leader of the warm ones out in space.
Arxal continues staring at the screen for several seconds before coming to a decision.
“Fire the weapon,” Arxal declares, making the other cold ones in the chamber freeze stiff for a moment. Until his gaze turns towards them, and they immediately set to work.
And just a few seconds later, tens of thousands of cold ones find themselves shoved into a large chamber nearby before being completely drained of cold energy and slaughtered. With all of their cold energy being drawn into a large energy core that is used to fire a massive biological weapon that shoots off a laser made purely of cold energy out into space.
Then Arxal watches through the screen as the laser cleaves through space to slam into the side of the warm ones’ ship. Clashing against the ship’s defenses for a time before the powerful warm one manages to arrive and use his heat energy to protect the ship.
But not until after their barrier shatters and the laser manages to freeze large chunks of the ship.
Arxal lightly nods his head in satisfaction even after the laser finally dissipates, when he sees the ship showing signs of difficulty moving.
One thing the cold ones, Arxal included, have had difficulty understanding since returning is the strange technology of metal created by the warm ones. Such as this ship of theirs.
But he does at least know that this technology is generally unreliable at times and can easily be destroyed.
And when it’s destroyed, even partially, a lot of their technology ceases to function properly.
So now he watches as the ship changes course to head directly to the closest planet near them.
His own planet.
I will claim the hybrid for my God. No one else will take that credit.
