Aria
Hmm. Well, this is an interesting sight.
I put my hands on my hips as I silently watch from high above the ground on a flying drone as War chases after Asher across a city, all the way across the city wall, then through a barren wasteland around said city, across an ant hill, through another wasteland, and back into another city. Destroying quite a few things in the process.
War does most of the damage though.
He badly damages a city wall, destroys several houses and shops, accidentally slaughters a large path of ants at the entrance of an ant hill, literally destroys the entrance to an ant hill, destroys several other hills hills to make a straight path after the cat, and destroys another wall when he enters the next city. All without stopping, or removing that broad grin on his face. Clearly enjoying this.
Then again, if he wasn’t enjoying this, he wouldn’t be bothering with this chase. He’d just move faster than Asher can even perceive to grab the immortal cat and pet him by force instead of playing chase.
In other words, he’s teasing the cat.
And it’s honestly hilarious to see. That supremist little guy finally getting his due.
I’d probably just let this continue going on for amusement if it weren’t for the fact that the officials of the empire itself look rather panicked about this situation as they follow the two along like trailing chicks. Completely unable to do a thing to stop it.
And the officials following me look just as panicked, except also with expressions that are practically begging me to stop them.
So I go down while they’re jumping across buildings. Purposefully letting the two of them see me.
Of course, War noticed me when I first arrived. It’s just Asher who is too busy and couldn’t sense me from my spot in the air.
But after I lower myself closer to the ground, Asher finally spots me and rushes straight at me. Leaping right into my arms while burying his face into my chest. As if the little fella is trying to hide himself there from War somehow.
I glance at War to find the man looking very amused as he asks, “You finished down in the ant hive?”
“Yeah,” I answer with a nod of my head. “I’ll head to another warzone in a couple days.”
After seeing that notification for my new skill, I thought it would be a good idea to visit the Life Spirits. But on second thought, I should do that later on.
Because Life Spirits do not like War.
They hate bloodshed, after all. And War directly represents wars and conflict and bloodshed.
Which means he wouldn’t be allowed in with me, so he’d probably either sneak in or cause trouble some other way.
It’s best to just go visit the Life Spirits after my time traveling with War is over.
Although I’ve been told that the Life Spirits seem to like me. Specifically because of me halting Pestilence and War’s mass-slaughter in Pestilence’s experiments and War’s wars.
So that’s nice.
Anyway, on the way back to my ship, I go ahead and send a message to Little Blue about the situation on the planet. Telling her to send some money to cover repair costs to the Rein Empire.
I never use my money in the first place since all of my stuff is given to me by the pharaoh. Yet I’m still earning enormous sums of it.
Plus the only reason War was causing damage was because he followed me here and was messing with Asher.
With that in mind, I share a tiny, itty bitty sliver of responsibility for this.
But Little Blue shares some rather shocking news with me that leaves me stunned in place for several seconds. Just rereading it multiple times to make sure I saw it correctly. Then I look up the current biggest news in the universe to find that it really is true.
The Grands just added a new law regarding proxies for national leaders. A law letting them assign a proxy with full authority to sign documents on their behalf, or just specific signing rights.
A grin stretches across my face as it finally sets in that I won’t ever have to deal with that shitty paperwork again.
Finally!
Then, as if contradicting my thoughts, I get another message from Little Blue saying that I have to fill out some paperwork to register her as my proxy for signing. Knocking the grin off of my face in an instant.
Damnit.
I let out a sigh at that, but despite the upcoming paperwork, I can’t help but anticipate the period of never needing to do paperwork again after this. So I even agree to open up the teleporter on my ship for her to teleport to. Which she does immediately before walking over to the bridge as I arrive.
With a pile of paperwork in tow.
I let out another sigh before getting to work without even talking. All while War finally lies down on some lawn chair he pulled out in my bridge. Seemingly losing interest in chasing Asher for now.
Asher, on the other hand, is currently swatting Little Blue’s hand as she tries to pet him after I put him down to sign paperwork. And he’s doing it harder than normal, no doubt put in a terrible mood by War.
As for the paperwork itself?
It’s a lot. But I guess it make sense since I’m literally making someone else legally allowed to sign documents on my behalf. While also signing a bunch of agreements about which types of documents would be legally binding for Little Blue to sign on my behalf.
All of the documents Little Blue brought me for signing rights are ones she might need for business or for the nation’s expansion. With little to no personal signing rights unrelated to those.
There are also some documents that give Ruby and Ryan some signing rights too. Just not as many signing rights as Little Blue, since they don’t work in management there and don’t necessarily need the signing rights.
This is mostly just so that they can help Little Blue sometimes, and for the times when Little Blue isn’t able to handle her work. What with her being a princess and all.
She still has royal duties to carry out sometimes. Like social gatherings and the like.
Anyway, I finish signing all of the documents after a few hours. During which time Little Blue gets tired of being slapped away by Asher and just sits back to do her own work.
After finishing, I hand off the paperwork for Little Blue to submit, then I begin deciding on my next destination.
It’ll be another warzone, that’s for sure. But I’m not sure which warzone I should check out.
Maybe the war between the Molten Dynasty and the Aquatic Federation?
Both of the nations have capitals on planets made almost entirely of ocean. With one being a lava ocean planet and the other being a water ocean planet. And both of their capital planets are very close to each other in the same galaxy. So they’ve been in conflict for a very long time.
The two nations are polar opposites in most ways too. Making for very poor communication between them.
Most of the time they try to talk, they end up fighting within minutes.
It’s kind of sad to read about.
As for the side I would be fighting for? The Aquatic Federation was the side that requested my help.
The Molten Dynasty is too arrogant to accept help from an outsider. They’re also a rather patriarchal society, so I can’t see them asking me for help regardless of their arrogance.
Meanwhile the Aquatic Federation is a lot more reasonable. They also have ties to Atlantis, where Little Blue is from. So I have a roundabout connection to them in a way.
After thinking it over for a bit, I eventually decide to fight on their side of the war against the Molten Dynasty.
Unlike the last war I fought in, these two nations only fight on the planets themselves. With neither side wishing to cause any trouble in their galaxy with space warfare.
Specifically because there’s a branch planet run by the Council of Darkness from the shadows there. And neither want to cause issues that could bring the Council of Darkness to their conflict.
Regardless, this’ll be interesting.
Fighting on ocean planets of different types.
I smile at that thought before setting course for the Aquatic Federation.
