The second part of the trial turns out to be pretty simple in form for this one.

In all of the trials I’ve participated in before, the first part of the trial was seeing the Quantum Being performing their role. The second part was seeing the Quantum Being fighting against the corrupted. And the third part of the trial was me having to fight and defeat the Quantum Being of the trial.

And just like the previous trials, the second part of this trial is to watch the Quantum Balancer fight the corrupted.

But unlike the previous trials, this one has him fighting in a rather… unusual way.

He’s repeatedly possessing different bodies and fighting with those bodies instead of using his own body to fight. And every time he does it, he uses the bodies to the brink of exhaustion before simply tossing the bodies away like trash. Sending them through portals to who knows where.

Probably wherever he took them from in the first place.

And judging by their expressions, he probably wipes their memories too.

It’s a rather twisted way to fight. Kidnapping them, using their energy tanks to the brink, then tossing them away and wiping their memories.

All so he doesn’t have to actually use his own energy to fight.

I can’t help but frown as I watch him fight using other people.

He’s not just using their energy supplies, but their bodies too. So if he ever takes any damage – which he almost never does since these are just regular corrupted – it’s the body he’s possessing that takes the damage. Not him.

The only time he eventually uses his own body is when a Corruptor appears.

As for how he fights?

The Quantum Balancer fights in a pretty roundabout way. Using everything around him to fight.

He directly alters reality to make reality itself fight against his target. Like making wind appear in nature to attack the target, or enhancing fire or other natural elements to strike.

Some of his attacks even alter reality to make the target move or act in a certain way.

As for direct physical strength? The Quantum Balancer doesn’t have much of that.

His particular quantum energy doesn’t seem to be that powerful either. Most just built around control.

Controlling others, controlling nature and reality around himself, and controlling his target.

Not directly attacking them himself.

Although he does do plenty of that, but just for the weaker foes that are easily slaughtered.

I watch as he fights against the Corruptor, taking his sweet time with the battle as he does so. All without the Corruptor landing any hits on him.

Which is disappointing, because I honestly want to see him get hit. If for no other reason than to wipe that smug look off his face.

That smug look is irritating me. It’s like he’s toying with everything and clearly enjoying doing it.

All without getting even a single injury in the process.

He just kind of gets under my skin.

Maybe it’s because I know this is the person who destroyed the Universe’s Will?

Then again, I don’t really care much about that. If anything, that actually helps me since it freed me from the Universe’s control.

It could also be because this is the guy who caused family drama for my family. Since he took control of Lucas and badly damaged his relationship with Mom. Ending up with her leaving him in the process to raise me and Astrid.

All of it was because of this guy.

I can’t help but feel more and more irritated the more I think about that.

And that smug look on his face is definitely not helping.

He continues to fight against the Corruptor for a while without taking much of any damage in the process. All the way until the Corruptor finally dies, and the second part of the trial comes to a close.

Then I find myself being put into the third part of the trial while already in my True Form.

And the moment I appear, I instinctively feel the need to move away. So I teleport several dozen meters away.

Only for the spatial disturbance around where I teleport to suddenly freeze before slamming into me, making me grunt as it sends me flying.

What the hell?!

As if that weren’t bad enough, I feel an instinct to move again that I can’t help but follow. Then I’m attacked by the spatial energy made in my teleportation disturbing space around the area.

And before I can wonder if my instinct is being driven by the Balancer, I see the two places I was at before suddenly exploding for seemingly no reason. At least, until I notice some sort of chemical floating in the air at certain locations.

I grit my teeth as I realize this entire battlefield has been turned into a death zone full of traps.

When I feel the instinct to move again, I do so once more. But this time I do it while wrapping myself in a barrier of quantum energy. And the barrier manages to defend against the spatial energy.

After getting clear of the danger and not taking a hit this time, I look around for signs of the Quantum Balancer. Only to find him lazily seated inside a quantum rift just watching this play out.

“You little shit…” I mutter out loud while gritting my teeth. To which he just grins and waves before making my instinct go off again as more explosives ring out in the area.

I feel my irritation levels rising higher and higher. Not just at his past actions towards my family, but at his own actions towards me now.

Then the very mana in the air around me begins to move in ways that interfere with my movements and teleportation while also attacking me in roundabout ways.

I try to teleport straight over to him, only to barely make it halfway to him instead. Being kicked back into reality by a mixture of quantum and spatial energy that he no doubt controls.

This may just be the most annoying fight of my life…
