All Across the Universe

One Quantum Being after another finally begins to pay close attention to the battle currently going on. Up until now, while each Quantum Being has noticed the battle, none of them gave it much thought. But now that the battle is beginning to move in the favor of the Quantum Reaper and Quantum Enforcer, and the Quantum Enforcer has sealed off the Quantum Balancer’s escape and all of their access to the Quantum Realm, things are different.

An odd realization settles into the hearts of each Quantum Being watching the battle as they realize a Quantum Being may actually die this time.

No Quantum Being has died in a very long time. Not one with a Role, at least.

And no Quantum Being with a Role has ever been slain by another Quantum Being with a Role before.

So all of the various Quantum Beings begin to watch with interest.

The Quantum Archon and Quantum Scribe watch without so much as blinking out of sheer curiosity, with the Quantum Scribe writing everything down for history.

The Quantum Cleaner watches it during the queuing time between game matches, treating it as a livestream for entertainment.

The Quantum Vanguard just grins as he watches it, because he’s always found the Quantum Balancer to be incredibly annoying.

And the Quantum Creator and Quantum Builder simply watch in silence, feeling that the Quantum Balancer’s death is a pity. One that could’ve been avoided if he hadn’t acted as he did.

However, one Quantum Being just watches in silence with a broken look on his face.

The Quantum Ruler.

Not a single Quantum Being moves to stop what’s happening. At most, some of the Quantum Beings take it to heart not to end up in the same position as the Quantum Balancer.

And, despite the sight of the Quantum Balancer’s attacks giving the Quantum Reaper the energy she needs to heal from his own attacks, none of the Quantum Beings feel very threatened by her. Since she isn’t strong enough to kill the Quantum Balancer on her own.

The only reason she is managing it here is thanks to the damage the Quantum Enforcer is building up on the Quantum Balancer alongside her.

If it weren’t for the Quantum Enforcer, all she would be able to do is be unkillable by the Quantum Balancer while pestering him.

She just isn’t strong enough to do more yet.

None of the Quantum Beings, whether ones with plans to do things that would be punishable or ones who simply wish to continue living as they usually do, believe the Quantum Reaper will be able to reach a level of power high enough to fight them evenly herself for a long time. And the combat focused Quantum Beings doubt she will even be able to clear their trials to gain immunity and absorption to their energy.

So they just watch in silence.

Waiting for the death of the first Role owning Quantum Being in a long time.

And to see what will happen once a Role has been erased without the help of the Universe’s Will to give it to a new Quantum Being.

But when the battle ends, all of the Quantum Beings calmly watching realize they had forgotten something.

Something that places a small seed of fear in their hearts.

Within the Time and Space Lockdown

The Quantum Enforcer feels… uncertain, as he continues attacking the Quantum Balancer alongside the Quantum Reaper. Because something about the situation just feels off to him.

Why is the Quantum Reaper fighting against the Quantum Balancer? Is it because of her mortal father? Is the existence known as the System rewarding her for it?

He isn’t sure.

If it’s the first reason, then he may have to prepare to fight her himself in the future. Since he has done just as much to her mother as the Quantum Balancer did to her father.

The only difference is that her mother deserved it while her father did not.

If the System is rewarding her, then that means the System is trying to take over parts of the Universe’s Will’s responsibilities. And the Quantum Enforcer isn’t sure how to feel about that.

One thing he is sure about, though, is that the Quantum Balancer needs to be eliminated.

So he puts all of these thoughts aside as he focuses on slaying the Quantum Balancer. Keeping him from escaping while the Quantum Reaper gradually absorbs his energy just from being in the same place as him.

Both the energy in the Quantum Balancer’s very body and in the Quantum Balancer’s attacks.

And ever so gradually, the Quantum Balancer begins to show genuine panic on his face. Which feels good to see for the Quantum Enforcer, who has had to deal with so very many of the Quantum Balancer’s crimes over the ages.

The battle continues for several more hours as the Quantum Balancer’s body gradually diminishes in energy, with no signs of the space-time barrier weakening or being destroyed. Showing that the Quantum Balancer’s end is truly approaching.

I will finally eliminate one of the greatest sources of injustice in the universe and the Quantum Realm soon.

The Quantum Enforcer continues his onslaught alongside the Quantum Reaper with this very thought driving him forward. All the way until the Quantum Balancer, on the edge of his ropes, finally snaps and lets out a massive surge of Quantum Energy while transforming into the very energy around them.

Showing what the Quantum Enforcer believes must be his final trump card.

His last resort.

A frown appears on the Quantum Enforcer’s face as he feels the Quantum Balancer directly merging with the very Quantum Energy around them. And not just the Quantum Energy, but everything. Everything that makes up the space within the space-time lock.

Despite the Quantum Balancer’s efforts, though, the Quantum Reaper continues to drain away the energy and everything else in the area. Making it all glitch apart bit by bit.

Proving that, while this last resort is incredibly powerful, it is no use against the Quantum Reaper and her strange trial-given powers.

The Quantum Enforcer feels relief at the sight, only for his eyes to widen at what he sees next.

Because he sees a large maw made of devourer’s energy appear surrounding them that begins to devour the very essence of the Quantum Balancer.

And it’s only after seeing this that the Quantum Enforcer finally realizes what he was missing. All because the Quantum Reaper is a Quantum Being.

So he forgot she was also a Devourer.

He stares at the Quantum Reaper as she grins, no doubt feeling new powers entering her through the devouring of the Quantum Balancer.

And, for the first time since meeting her, he finally feels the slightest amount of fear.

Fear and wariness towards the Quantum Reaper.

A devourer just like her mother.
