I honestly can’t help but feel rather satisfied every time I land a strong hit on the Quantum Enforcer. Simply because of how many times I can clearly remember this Quantum Being cutting my head off. And not even just my head, but numerous other parts of me too.

He’s cut me in half, cut off my arms, cut off my legs, cut off fingers, toes, and even cut my calves from my knees down off.

So I’m rather annoyed by him. Very annoyed, at that.

As for the Quantum Enforcer himself? He’s not having a good time. But he also looks rather resigned, oddly enough.

Almost like he is mentally preparing himself for death at this point despite his struggle. And he keeps looking at the seal around us, clearly hoping it runs out of energy.

I narrow my eyes at that before pushing to attack even more. Trying to force the battle to end sooner.

Because I don’t want him breaking out of this seal and fleeing.

That would be bad. I really don’t want a hidden threat looming in the shadows all the time.

I gradually use up the majority of his energy bit by bit until he is finally beginning to run on fumes, with so little energy remaining that he doesn’t even manage to restore his arm after I cut it off. But, at the same time, I feel the energy in the seal running out.

So I hurry up even more, trying to finish as quickly as possible. Only to grimace when the seal finally cracks after the Quantum Enforcer charges up and slams into it while completely ignoring me and sacrificing a few toes. Then he rushes back at it again immediately to finally shatter the seal. Not even caring when I manage to cut off his entire arm in the process of him leaving himself open.

But things don’t go as he plans.

Right when he looks like he’s about to teleport away now that the seal is broken, a wave of time energy and quantum energy mixed together rushes around us to seal time. Surprising us both.

Until I see Mom arriving with a smug grin on her usually stoic face. One that is far more satisfied than I’ve ever seen before. Except when she first saw me and Astrid again after so long.

I see quite a few emotions flashing across the Quantum Enforcer’s face within just a few moments before I rush towards him.

Shock.

Anger.

Then a resigned acceptance mixed with sorrow.

And after that, he doesn’t ever make a face again as I cut his head off with my scythe. But I don’t use Quantum Collapse on him. Since that could cause real issues in the universe.

Unlike the version in the trial that is just a fake.

The moment the light in his eyes goes out and he dies, I get a message from the System. One that I only read after I devour his powers alongside Crystal, who does the same. Splitting the guy’s powers in two.

Not that it seems to change anything.

Especially when I see the skill I get from him alongside the leveling messages.

Huh. So that’s why his execution strikes could bypass the skill I got from the Quantum Balancer that makes it so no single hit can deal more than a tenth of my soul.

It’s because Universal Judgment can ignore things like that completely.

Next up is the System Message.

You have successfully slain the Quantum Enforcer, dishing out punishment to the hypocritical rule breaker.

However, as no quest was ever offered for this action, no reward shall be granted.

Seriously? How rude.

I wasn’t expecting the System to be so cheap. It’s obvious that the System decided not to offer a quest because the way he was breaking the ‘rules’ was through attacking me in the first place. So the System didn’t need to entice me into attacking him for me to deal with him.

And now that he is dead, the System sees no reason to reward me for it.

It really is a cheapskate.

Anyway, this new active skill should be incredibly useful. Even if I’m not quite as stealthy as the Quantum Enforcer, I’m able to teleport with ease. Which will make using the skill very easy.

I turn my attention to Mom to find her looking both relieved and satisfied at where the Quantum Enforcer was before being devoured by our devourer energy.

She looks really happy. No doubt due to finally getting her revenge on the man that ruined everything.

While the Quantum Balancer was the one who framed Dad and split them up through that, the Quantum Enforcer was the one who sealed Mom away and separated her from me and Astrid. So she had just as much of a grudge against him as the Balancer.

And now they’re both dead, with the Quantum Enforcer dead because she stopped him from escaping.

I smile at her.

Whoever said revenge was empty should look at her smiling face now.
