Alexia
Things get a lot quieter after we deal with the Quantum Enforcer. The other Quantum Beings no longer make any fuss and simply go about their own business while at least sometimes doing their jobs, the Corrupted One is still hiding away to recover, and the Quantum Ruler still hasn’t left his throne since the destruction of the Universe’s Will.
I spend my time wiping out as many corrupted as I can over the course of the next few months. All the way until the day of Astrid and Ethan’s wedding finally arrives.
At which point I head back into the Dimensional Grid and arrive at the wedding venue.
Astrid and Ethan’s new home on Ethan’s little island near The Retreat.
Their home is rather massive and is practically half a castle on its own. With parts of it being built into the icy mountains, and the rest being a grand looking mansion on the exterior of the mountain. Both on the side of the mountain and on the ground next to it.
It’s a very fancy place. One seemingly made out of a deep purple ice crystalline substance.
No doubt to represent both Astrid’s shadow affinity and Ethan’s hellfrost.
The venue almost looks magical.
Then again, it is magical.
There are also a lot of people here for the wedding. With the wedding itself being split into different parts at different locations.
This is the initial part of the wedding that is meant for the public. Or, to be more specific, it’s meant for dignitaries from other nations. People who have relationships with The Retreat.
Which, at this point, amounts to more nations than it doesn’t.
The Retreat has just grown that much over time.
Then the second part of the wedding is a private affair meant just for people invited by Astrid and Ethan. So friends and family are the only ones invited.
And unlike the first part, which is a grand and formal affair with a dress code and a very high class setting, the second part is a lot more casual. There is no fancy formal attire dress code for it, and one part of the second part even has a beach-side party in Dimensional Block #1. Close to Dad’s house. Where the dress code is swimsuits and other swimwear.
So a very different dress code from the formal suits and dresses for the first part.
Extremely different at that.
Of course, the moment I walk into the wedding venue – or, rather, teleport into – all of the eyes in the venue turn towards me. With quite a few people bowing, giving nods of their heads, or just plain giving me looks of respect or fear.
I ignore them all as I head further into the venue with my clothes glitching once. Then twice. Then my clothes transform into a formal dress that Mom had made to match the one Astrid is going to wear.
Albeit in a different color, with Astrid’s being white and mine being a black and purple color.
The dress is a lot longer and more flowy than the usual outfit I would wear, with it reaching all the way down to the floor. It isn’t poofy and doesn’t stretch far away from my legs while also not being right up to my legs either.
It’s a comfortable fit, to say the least. Even if I’m not a fan of it reaching the floor.
I’m just not very comfortable with it since it wouldn’t be fit for battle.
The dress itself is split into two parts, with one of them being an under part that is made of a slick black material that goes all over my body up to the gloves on my hands, and the other being the almost jacket-like part covering my torso and arms that has a part that stretches down behind me and to the sides that cover my legs even further. Although it could also be a sort of veil too. One covering my arms, torso, and the back and sides of my legs.
I’m not all that knowledgeable about clothes, so I’m not sure what to call any of this.
The jacket-veil thing meets at my neck on both sides, and the entire dress has very little skin exposed except for a small area around my upper chest. And the dress is the polar opposite of Astrid’s in color.
Also, I’m wearing high heels for the first time in a very long time. Which isn’t very comfortable either.
But Mom had this all made, so I’m wearing it.
She even made a matching hairstyle for me and Astrid that I automatically transformed my hair into when changing into the dress. With my hair curled and a shadowy purple flower crystal hairpiece in my hair.
It also made me realize my hair has been growing longer for a while now and I never bothered to cut it shorter.
Not that it matters.
I ignore the looks of all the people watching as I walk through the venue towards my seat, where I sit down and reach for a glass of wine that is set out in front of me by one of the servers here. And without pause, I bring the wine to my lips and quietly take a sip while waiting for the wedding events to begin.
No one gets anywhere near me as I drink the wine. Both out of fear and out of respect.
And I don’t bother paying much attention to them either.
Eventually other family members and friends begin to arrive at my table and sit. Each wearing their own formal attire.
Alara, Mom, Dad, Ethan’s parents, and more.
Everyone arrives with a joyous air only slightly dampened by this being the public part of the wedding.
I’m sure the private part will be more festive and less formal and tense.
Anyway, the wait doesn’t take very long before the official events of the day begin. With Ethan walking up to a large, raised dais at the front of the room surrounded by what are practically ornamental battlements with numerous grand chandeliers above it.
Then he begins his opening speech.
