Alexia
Surprise floods me the moment I enter the trial. Because everything changes when I do. I feel a lot of the power in my body drain away as my surroundings turn into a large academy. One that looks very familiar to me.
It’s the very school I went to with Astrid before the System Reset.
And I quickly spot me and Astrid walking down the hallway of the school. Then I’m forced by the trial to watch as I go about my life on this day until I enter the dungeon with my group for class.
The very dungeon that the Quantum Architect was sealed away inside of.
When I enter the dungeon with them, I watch us navigating through it until I find the strange glitch in the dungeon. The one that leads to where Zal was being held.
I watch myself enter the chamber before confronting Zal, only for Zal to force me into killing him. Starting off the System Reset in the process.
Then reality around me warps again and I find myself inside of a very familiar cave, just watching myself in the dungeon trying to cross a river full of piranhas. Only for it to soon switch over to show the hidden boss I fought back in that dungeon. The leech-like spider thing. Followed by the final boss, which was a large scorpion monster known as the Nightshade Queen.
After that, I find myself being made to experience my climb to power one battle at a time.
The dungeons I fought in, the users I fought, and for some reason, all of the piranhas I fought.
I’m not quite sure why the trial is showing me these past scenes, much less those last ones in particular. And I stay unsure throughout the entire process. All the way until the end, where it shows me fighting one Quantum Being after another.
Then, once the trial shows my last fight against the Quantum Vanguard I just completed right before this, I’m once again sent somewhere else. With this location being a completely empty void where nothing can be seen other than what I instinctively recognize as the Universe’s Will’s Core and the Quantum Ruler.
“As commanded,” the Quantum Ruler mutters to himself while spreading both of his arms and floating upwards. Only for his body to begin glowing with a bright purple light before glitching apart once. Then twice.
When he glitches again, a second version of him appears mere feet from him. One that begins to glitch just like the Quantum Ruler did.
Unlike the Quantum Ruler, however, this one merely begins to change appearance. No new being appears from him like with the Quantum Ruler.
And while this one is changing appearance, the Quantum Ruler continues glitching until another one is made. With that one beginning to change his appearance as well.
This process happens a total of nine times, forming the nine Quantum Beings of the hierarchy.
Something I can’t help but notice during this is that the exact order of the hierarchy happens to match the order that they were created. Which leads me to believe that the hierarchy was just established due to their age and nothing more.
Once they’re all created, the Quantum Ruler crosses his arms and declares, “Set out and follow the will of the universe. Create as it orders you. Destroy as it orders you. And live as it orders you.”
The other Quantum Beings look disoriented for a few moments before they quickly begin to set out handling their responsibilities. With the sole exception of the Quantum Vanguard, who stays behind acting as a guard for the Universe’s Core.
Right. I forgot that the corruption only became a major issue after the Corrupted One appeared.
After the Quantum Ruler’s brother-
My thoughts come to a grinding halt when I see another man I don’t recognize appearing near the core, Vanguard, and Ruler. One who looks very similar to the Quantum Ruler, yet different from the others.
Unlike the Quantum Ruler and the other Quantum Beings who all have very dark purple hair, this man has very light purple hair. He has the same glowing purple eyes, but they’re also a brighter color. And his overall air is a lot brighter as well.
“It’s started?” he asks, to which the Ruler just nods his head with his eyes closed. Silently keeping an eye on the various Quantum Beings who were just created to make sure they don’t make any mistakes.
“Is it progressing well?” the man who I’m assuming is probably the Ruler’s brother, and the Quantum Being who was corrupted into the Corrupted One, asks.
The Quantum Ruler nods his head without answering the question out loud. Just focusing entirely on supervising the other Quantum Beings.
After seeing the answer he’s looking for, the brother nods his head in satisfaction. Then he briefly bows his head to the core next to them, completely ignores the Vanguard standing next to it, and vanishes in the blink of an eye.
The scenes then begin to shift, going across who knows how many years as the universe gradually gets built one step at a time.
The Quantum Ruler also proves more about his responsibilities than I knew existed beforehand. Like how he’s also responsible for creating the laws of the universe.
Physics, lightning, fire, heat, cold, gravity, and more.
All laws and all forms of being were created by him at the instruction of the universe.
The Ruler really is the ruler of all. The origin of everything.
Even if he’s just following the orders of the Universe’s Will to do so.
Over time, the nine Quantum Beings created from the Ruler begin to develop their own separate personalities. And planets and life on them begin to take on their own directions. With ecosystems forming that drive themselves without the need to create more things to add to them.
Meanwhile the Vanguard continues standing guard at the Core, only occasionally moving out to wipe out small patches of corruption.
Corruption that gradually begins to appear more and more over time.
And, with that realization, I find myself drawn deeper into the story of the universe being shown to me right now. Because a single question lingers at the forefront of my mind throughout all of this.
How, exactly, did the Ruler’s brother get corrupted?
