hey guys, a pixie lad for you all in this spring season. This is also the postcard piece for this month's print club. Fey Astarion is in the works and I hope to have him posted in the next few days!! I'm really excited for it.

Apologies for the less stuff going on this month than usual, I've been dealing with some burnout and been honestly trashing a great deal of paintings...

The creative cycle is at times unending torment lol. I did enjoy painting this little dude for you all. Mushrooms are one thing I never get tired of painting!! This piece reminded me of a character of mine that I've thrown through the OC meat grinder for the past 10 years or so, so I'd thought I'd share. This dude below named Brannon I created a while back I am hoping I'll be able to paint and updated piece for you guys eventually. He ends up being my regular sacrificial character every time I do a 'style' challenge. This piece below was my attempt several years back to paint using nothing but a hard pastel brush.

And another when I was attempting a visual novel anime style:

I've gone through such a series of identity crises over the years regarding my art style. I get moved very strongly to drop everything I know and start over. "Oh, let's do watercolor for a year" "Let's try drawing only in graphite and charcoal, then scan them in and color them digitally" "Oh anime style is so fun, let's exacerbate that persistent hand injury with some lineart" etc. etc. I can feel the call again lately but I'm resisting it because I really do love the work I've created the past year more than ever.

Anyways, sorry for the rambling, I'm not really sure if you guys are interested in a blog post but I'm honestly still so shocked there is a group of people even interested enough to support me at all, so thank you so much. It means more to me than I have the words for.

I hope you all are well, and hope that if anyone is reading this feels like they are in a creative slump, I'm rooting for you. We got this!

~Lily

I’m obsessed!!

These are gorgeous ❤️

Morgan W.

These artworks are so pretty! Love them!

Maya

Brannon, my beloved! I adore the aspen tree patterns on him. 🖤 I love how soft and pretty the mushroom pixie piece looks, it's stunning. ✨️

Duskrose

He looks like such a pretty little mischief maker! And in bit of a repeat of what I said on Twitter, that iridescence in his skin is gorgeous!

Dren_xo

Ugh, gods, I love this so much!!! Gorgeous!! Honestly, I'd love if one of your OCs was one of the monthly prints. If it ever happens I'm fuckin' here for it. 💜💚💙 ...I need more Yuya in my life. 👀

Blodreina

Oh! I love this so much, and he is the feature postcard!! I think this is win for us! It's so pretty! The mushrooms, the little scale like accents on his arms, ugh, beautiful! Also, you've been busy! That book cover you made was incredible and burn out happens! I think everyone understands that to some degree, take care of yourself! 💜 (Also the first thing I thought when I saw this was calling him Rána, which Quenya for spirit of the moon)

Nerdy_Senpai

Loooove your use of color !!!

Tatsu

I LOVE his birch markings!

AlyssaGrim

I'm honestly in love with the birch fairy. The concept is so cool!

Zombrigit

I don’t mind the rambling at all, also he looks a teensy bit like a Halsin fairy and I love that. Also really like the design of Brannon. Honestly this post came at the perfect time, I’m dealing with a sick fur baby with a bad prognosis so seeing pretty arts helps a little

D'Artagnan Wayland

The wings look so good, and it's ok to take a bit longer. Burnout is rough

North

Brannon's got a great look to him - love the contrast of the birchbark designs against his dark skin. Definitely would not object to seeing more of him. (And take that statement in whichever tone best pleases you. ;) ) I really like the little fey guy too - his color scheme and patterns remind a bit of one of my OCs.

North

I'm so sorry for you and your fur baby. Here's hoping for the best possible outcome.

Alex Chea

The iridescence of his skin is to die for. 😭

Alisa

So beautiful! Thank you for sharing your art with us and I hope you can take some much needed rest! Burnout is no joke. And ramble away! I don't mind and I'm certainly not the only one. Do what you need to do :)

tyshalae

that's beautiful!

Rebecca Custer

The little mini-anime style is so cute it's crazy. Those mushrooms in the first piece are everything, though. They look real squishy.

Songbird

Brannon is so cool! Is the birch bark part of his skin or is it clothing? I especially love the mushrooms on his shoulder in the visual novel style. And I like your blog posts. I find them very interesting.

Paladin Feora

Your OCs are always s gorgeous and beautiful!

Michael Molik

Of course I remember Brannon, and as I always say, your art is gorgeous no matter the style you choose to embrace at the time BUT your health is very important to those that care about you and your work so keep that as a priority always. And yes I am still working on that kitbash figurine of him, I may have to have my brother dearest 3d print me some elements but I assure you, by the time I visit the US in January I will do my best to have it ready :P.

feyspeaker

Thank you!! He's actually an aspen tree fairy (very similar haha) as I wanted to create a fairy that would fit in my local ecosystem. We have a lot of aspen trees here in Colorado. ♥♥

feyspeaker

Thank you!! He's actually an aspen tree fairy!! I had the idea on a trail ride near where I live in the mountains, with all of the eye shapes on the trunks of the aspen trees. I really wanted to create a fairy that would fit in more local surroundings for me haha

feyspeaker

Oh I'm so sorry about your sweet creature. I am hoping the best for you. ♥♥ Thank you so much as always, sending love your way.

feyspeaker

Thank you!! I think I've just been doing tooo much these past several months and feeling the effects lol.

feyspeaker

Thank you!!!! He's gone through a lot of iterations. He also has a scary Kelpie centaur friend I'd love to paint soon- they basically lay around 24/7 being grumpy and lazy lol. I'd love to hear about your character!!!

feyspeaker

Thank you, I'm such a weenie for iridescence I think I'm at risk of painting it all the time haha

feyspeaker

Thank you so much. ♥♥ I need to find some kind of spark again but I feel like the harder you look for it intentionally the more it hides lol...

feyspeaker

Thank you!! I just love mushrooms lol. I was really trying make that anime style work for a while but I could NOT for the life of me recreate it consistently enough. Lineart is too restrictive for me- I often end up changing things a lot through my process so I prefer to work on only a layer or two at a time and merge them regularly.

feyspeaker

Thank you!! The bark grows on his skin! I think if I revisit him I'd probably add a lot more texture to him overall to sell that look a bit better. Mushrooms are always growing on him because he likes to curl up in leaf litter and sleep for days at a time lol.

feyspeaker

Thank you, Michael. ♥♥ I am very excited for that haha, he is my little weirdling and I'd love to see what you do with him. ;A;

Tatsu

hehe, the only trees I know well are redwoods, but I'm glad I was close

AlyssaGrim

Oh my bad! We don't have Aspen around where I live, just birch. Still I'm obsessed with him though lol

Songbird

He really sounds like my kinda guy. I'm craving a good nap now.

Alisa

Yeah I get that. Sometimes all it takes is some time away to get it back

Fenya Faraday

Yesterday was my birthday and this is now my phone background, so thanks for a great little unintentional birthday gift :)

ANak

Lord, absolutely gorgeous!!

feyspeaker

thank you!!!!! I made him back when I had been doing a lot of fall hiking, and I've always loved aspen trees
