An experimental piece expanding upon the sketch I posted a few weeks back. I always struggle with monochromatic color schemes so I wanted to challenge myself a bit here, and also give myself a chance to just loosen up and play around with texture. I wanted to portray a bit of a horror atmosphere along with more of a melancholy vibe for Astarion here. I imagine those scars of his always in the forefront of his mind.

I have so many pieces I want to paint, I'm hoping I'll get into a groove again here as I've mostly finished setting up my workspace in my new place. Still getting used to all of the unfamiliarity- I commend people who move regularly. It is NOT easy for a homebody like myself!!!

oh this is so cool! I can't wait for the VTM stuff too!! Also did you hear they're working on a bloodlines 2 and it seems pretty good from the small bits I've seen

OleanderDreams

This is hauntingly beautiful and I love all the shades of red. Definitely will be purchasing a print of this in the future ❤️

OleanderDreams

Also super excited for September theme!

Tiffalah

I honestly never would have guessed you struggled with monochromatic, because you did AMAZING with this! Love him ❤️

Blodreina

This art looks like you've been mastering monochromatic your entire career! This is absolutely stunning!

Thank you!! Yes, I have been following the development of VTMB2 since it was first announced... I definitely think it looks intriguing but I plan to play it without thinking of it as a sequel. I really hope it's good, at least I hope there will be a gorgeous Toreador blorbo man I can fall in love with lmao!!

feyspeaker

Thank you so much. Red lighting is probably the hardest for me, it's such an intense and unforgiving color as a light source. Also glad to hear you are looking forward to September!!!!

feyspeaker

Oh gosh, thank you, I really do. I thought about scrapping this and going with Shadowheart instead because I think her black hair would lend a little bit more nicely to the color scheme, but I'm glad I persevered. Maybe I'll do an all purple one for her haha.

feyspeaker

Oh that's so sweet, you're being too generous haha!!!! Thank you. ♥

Tiffalah

All purple would be great for Shadowheart! I'm glad you kept pushing with Astarion - the red really pops and it has a lot of emotion! I can't wait to see if you do more in this style

Litsen

Such a wonderful artwork! Heart-breaking but magnificent, and so telling in everything it represents! Well done! The colours are absolutely fantastic!

Drow Queen

Have you really been struggling? Lol. This is absolutely beautiful! And now I need to add it to my collection of BG3 art from you ❤️🥰

feyspeaker

so much haha, I think I painted over this piece 3 full times lmao. Thank you so much, I'm glad you like it!! Sometimes with these more experimental pieces I have no idea if people will like them!!!
