Be careful what you wish for
I always struggle to keep up my routine while traveling. The first few days are usually great — I do my stretches, meditate, drink warm water like a responsible adult — and then life just… happens. Something always “gets in the way,” and I skip a day, then two, and then it’s gone.
I’ve learned not to stress about it.
But this time was different — Italy, Spain, France — basically, every meal is a celebration. I didn’t want to turn into a little brioche by the end of the trip, especially knowing I’d have two photoshoots in Paris with my friends. I wanted to feel confident, light, alive in front of the camera.
So, after one particularly long 14-course dinner (yes, fourteen), I went to bed thinking: “Tomorrow I start moving again. Morning workouts. Back to myself.” I thought about it the entire trip — and right before Paris, I was actually ready to begin.
Guess what happened?
My pancreas decided to join the conversation. It got inflamed — badly. If you’ve never experienced it, imagine food poisoning… but it doesn’t end after you “cleanse.” Your body just stays in pain — heavy, slow, drained — and recovery takes days.
For me, it’s been six already. I finally feel okay, but I can only eat boiled or baked vegetables and a bit of chicken with almost no oil. The gentlest food possible.
So yes — technically, I did lose weight. Just not quite the way I had planned 😅
Sometimes the universe listens a bit too literally.
