PLEASE GET THE FILES FROM THE MOST RECENT BETA POST(español abajo)

Now that the basic CPS2 architecture is in place, it is time to add more games to the core. CPS2 games could have up to 32MB of graphics ROM; for this week, the focus has been games of 8MB. These are the titles:

-Street Fighter Alpha, at last, we have the original version working on MiSTer-CAPCOM Sports Club, a "Nintendo Wii" title in your CPS2!-Mighty! Pang, the USA version fitted in 8MB, unlike the other regions. We get to play that one this week (in the alt folder)-Megaman: The Power Battle, again only the 8MB version (in the alt folder)-Megaman 2: The Power Fighters

This time I have been helped by a small pre-release group who has helped polish the core to have a smooth beta update. Thank you, team!

Annual Membership

A few months ago, I enabled the annual membership in Patreon. New subscribers often choose this option because it has a small discount. I never told current members about it; apologies about that. Former patrons can switch to an annual membership to enjoy the discount.

Next week we will be back with something not completely alien to us.

"not completely alien to us" - OMG

Juan Carlos Pastor (Denymetanol)

The SF Alpha opening NOW with the missing samples of super attacks enabled is a totally LEVEL UP ! - Thanks ;-)

That's really great! Are there any detailed instructions on how to install it? There is no CPS2 folder in the archive or under _Arcade.

Trifle

Great update, keep 'em coming! Appreciate all the hard work.

MechaGG

I couldn't get SF Alpha to work. I followed the instructions in README (copied over the files from LEGACY_STRUCTURE), ran the update_all script, and when I launch either Alpha or Zero versions it is just a black screen. Every other game works fine though so good job!

Raziel

The game I want most is Super Street Fighter 2, no, not Turbo, I mean, just SSF2. That's probably my favourite version of the Street Fighter 2 series. I find Turbo just too twitch-driven where the slower Street Fighter games seem more strategic to me. It also just feels like the game wasn't designed for that speed, whereas SFA just works at the higher speeds, but you know, that's just my opinion. In terms of Street Fighter Alpha, it's SFA3 for me all the way, Cammy's my main (almost wrote 'my maid', bit of a Freudian slip there I think :D) so that's probably the reason. I also think SFA3 had some other interesting character additions.

Jordi

hi! I'm curious that buttons vary a lot between games. Is it possible to keep same buttons between MRAs (like insert coin)? Quizá alguien lo haya preguntado antes, y lo escribo en inglés para que lo pueda entender todo el mundo.

Mohamed HASSAIRI

@jose street fighter alpha 2 has 25 Years today! may be we can celebrate it with FPGA 😭

Stephen R Price

These all just black screen for me. core credits show, but that's all. - oops! it helps if you install the cps2 core in the cores folder. That wasn't in the install notes, my fault!

Jason Smith

Great work Jose! Looking forward to progear no Arashi and SFA2 favorite games on the core!

You Tibbles

the games work/play wonderfully! (i followed the legacy structure setup). the tennis game in capcom sports club is one of my favorite tennis games, very excited to play this in FPGA! and SFA on your CPS2 core plays great with smoother frame rates compared to the CPS1.5 version. great job Jotego !!

Ethan Tabor

I'm getting black screens when loading any of the cps2 games. I don't see any roms in the games/mame directory, but I run update_all and I still don't see them in there. I've verified all the mra files are in /_Arcade/_alternatives, as well as the core. Core seems to load, menus work, but black screen (no game output). Any ideas?

Sweetlilmre

Great release! @Jotego Which is better for you monthly or annual patreon?

Dacasks

Doesn't D&D Tower of Doom also fits in 8mb?

Tym Whitney

Glad I took your advice on getting a DAC wired into the Mr, makes a huge difference to sound quality both cps1 and cps2 games sound amazing!!

Tym Whitney

I bought a cheap and simple DAC from Amazon, cost about £15, perfect for my needs, made sure it was 5v though so I could power it from my Mr. You don’t need to spend a fortune on a DAC to get good sound

Tym Whitney

I never have to switch audio output, DAC is on all the time and all cores output through it with no switching

Retro Evolved

hiya fellas... which DACs did you get? Any chance of a link? best :-)
