A lot of activity this week as usual, let me go quickly through it

Small edits to Renegade and Insector X schematics (find them attached, thanks to Skutis for his help on Insector X)

The JTKIWI core (compatible with Taito-SETA games Insector X, Extermination, New Zealand Story, etc.) has now the video section mostly working but the core itself gets stuck at some point during the boot process. Currently under investigation

The Bubble Bobble core has been updated after fixing a problem that was slowing it down (MiSTer and others)

The Out Run frame buffer isn’t ready yet despite having put a lot of effort into it. There are some pieces about the memory interface both in MiSTer and the PocketFPGA which aren’t clear. I have attached to this post a stable version clocked at 50MHz. But this one has many more GFX glitches than the old one. Only try it if the old one wasn’t working for you.

All published PocketFPGA cores are now freely available in the JTBIN repository. Find attached the core for Contra, only for Patreon subscribers for now. We are not using any DRM on it. I think keeping the beta files in Patreon posts and the public ones in JTBIN may be enough to give patrons a reward without making things complicated. For future cores, check out the to-do list. Finally, a bug in the Vigilante core (PocketFPGA port) is fixed now.

We have reviewed all current development topics we could think of and added it to a public kanban

See you next week!

(MiSTer and others)

It’s really cool to see all the cores you have for Mister that are getting ports to the Pocket in the to-do list. Thanks for sharing!

Phil Stevenson

I don't know how you're not constantly exhausted! Thanks for your ongoing work!

Konrad

Thank you Jose, have a great weekend - you need to recharge your battery :)

Michael Johnson

Loving the work and the Kanban board - shows how much you have going on and it can’t just be release after release for the team - @jt how do we raise a todo/bug on the board? Keep up the good work!!

Gillaxian

Thanks for the update. What’s the status of the Neo Geo Pocket Color core? Has that been shelved? Haven’t heard an update on that in a while.

R.A.Helllord

There's a small mistake in that a folder is duplicated. \assets\jtvigil\ has another copy of jtvigil inside it. Both in this zip file and on the github page. Otherwise everything seems good and works well on my end!

Thanks for this great update and now that I finally received my Pocket I’ll be trying out the Pocket cores.

HissingMonkey

The 50mhz Outrun core generates stable signal for me on my main Mister display now and runs perfectly playably, albeit with the mentioned graphical glitches. Thank you!

Tatton Partington

It’s great to see the work on the Kanban board! Thanks for sharing those details! I tried to find the Neo Geo Pocket core in the Kanban board and I’m not seeing it on there. You mentioned previously that it wasn’t that far from completion. Is it omitted because it’s so close to completion?

TotoroBlues

I get an error message when I try to boot OutRun. Something about a .bin file not being found.

Simon Aspinall

Jose, earlier this week the cores had an name change update. Every time there is a name change Track and Field breaks, it stops saving the records and times. I had to find an old mra from 6 months ago and replace it so the high scores save again. Are these name changes really necessary?

Tim Oaks

Where do we find the mra files to generate the roms?

Tim Oaks

So do the US Contra roms not work? The readme says to copy the roms to common folder, but there are no json files for them and they dont show up in the core. also for some reason the Gryzor set 1 rom isnt working on my pocket. Maybe a bad rom?

Stephen Shelton

Since the US .Json files for the US set don't seem to be here and only the Japanese and Euro titles are listed, I cheated by using a US set to make my .rom file but then renamed it to contraj.rom for it to be seen as the Japanese rom, and it loaded just fine. I have beaten it at least 4 times today with no issues.

Pixel Cherry Ninja

I've also asked the Dev the below question/request. If it can be implemented, it'll make life easier for all pocket users here👇 Also, I just had a thought. As the Jotego Public cores now download with your updater. I'm wondering for the Jotego Patreon stuff, would it be possible to fetch/create the .rom files, provided you place .rbf and .mra files on your AP? Would be great feature, if it can be done.

electromagnet

Thanks for the work! Is it possible for you to name the platform and game names for Pocket as the title, year released, developer like all the other cores? Its hard to know what game we are picking and it says the year as 2022 and not the developer of the game?
