i always hated what they did to dany's character in this episode, it's SO out of character for her to do what she did to the tarlys

I know danys decision is controversial, but I honestly see nothing wrong with it. She gave the tarleys 2 options of either join her, or go to the wall and they declined both. It doesn't make much sense to keep enemies alive (that would likely take up arms against her again). That and also we have seen/heard stories of other families doing the same in war, its a pretty typical action. Also every ruler needs to inspire some kind of fear, up until now Dany has been LOSING BAD (thanks to tyrions plans/advice) lmao so its good to show that she means business sometimes!

I think this episode shows the difference between Westeros and Essos political and social-cultural power structures, and how badly the Sons of the Harpy revolt/Dothraki take-over affected Dany's sense of power. Westeros lacks the slave/slave owner dynamic where brute strength is prioritized. Westeros requires actual politics in combination with brute strength. Dany doesn't have this skill so she might've made a mistake with the Tarlys. And this didn't have the obvious moral victory that her Essos victories have had. She wasn't freeing anyone...
