From what I understand of the manga (I haven't gotten through all of it), the current formula (with 30+ girls) is there is a new girl added every 10ish chapters, and the first chapter or two of the cycle is introducing the new girl, her backstory, etc, then the next 7 or 8 is the entire swarm going to do something, but are divided up into groups of 5ish, and each permutation of 5 have not occurred before in the manga, so there is always some new interactions to explore, meanwhile keeping an even focus across the entire group. Speaking in broad strokes here, there are over 200 chapters as of writing this comment. (Early cycles went faster, because less characters).

Since you were talking so much about Rentaro breaking up with the girls, or trying to keep dating them to avoid them dying, I just want to remind you that the soulmate thing goes both ways. Not only the girls magically fall in love at first sight with Rentaro, but he also falls madly in love with them when they see each other. He is not letting them go voluntary, because he is in love with all of them and is destined to keep falling in love whenever a new girlfriend appears. He can't stop what he feels.
