It's called "gold dust" but it's actually fey stone dust. So it is actually renewable.

We should know exactly how long ago that whole noble purge thing is as well as how old ferdinand is. I'm just not sure if the anime has said it explicitly or if they're waiting to say it later. Also their soup is worse than just baing mushy. They also throw out the broth and start over with plain water 🤢

it is my head canon that the purge happened around Myne´s birth as the Gods called Uranos soul here as a reaction to the massive loss of (mana-wielding) life during it.

it is renewable but that costs a lot of mana and requires the hunting of fey beasts, so it is definitely costly.

the nobles have not just problems with ranking when it comes to marriage. As stated in season two: in order to have children to people must possess a similar amount of mana. So this is an extra hurdle on top of all the social stuff.

In case this helps calculating people's ages: In this world, people are considered adults at 15, and usually get married 1 or 2 years after that (since its the time it takes them to get their affairs in order). Men have more leway age wise, but women are socially considered beyond marriageable age when they are over 20. And they usually start having children between 1 or 2 years after getting married.
