What a boring anime. The story of my life is much more interesting.

Zeemod

Let's jump into this weird rabbit hole right fuckin' noW@!!!!! :D:D:D

Zane

welp. here we go. the way it starts is definitely... indicative.

Chance Lewis

Araragi is very great character. Definitely my fav

Cookie

When can we expect the full length reaction?

Lord Snail the Slimy

I mean... I'm personally not the biggest fan of this series, but I can at least congratulate everyone who is~ Have fun, guys - it's going to be a loooong ride for y'all!

Sam

This is my favorite anime actually, totally suprised to see it but extremely hyped! And yeah, the first episode is pretty incomprehensible to newcomers but you'll be up to speed after a few more I think :)

Cookie

You guys are perfect for this show, I really loved the discussion!

warui warui

Man this is a dream come true my favourite series ever! It's going to start a bit slow but when it hits, it really hits.

warui warui

the visual storytelling in this series is brilliant. and it basically destroys cliches and tropes.

Jyiber

This was the first season, but I'm going to very heavily suggest you start with the 3 prequel movies. They started the adaptation ahead of light novels because they wanted to save the origin story for a big budget movie production and it ended up getting stalled out for years longer than anticipated... so I guess they always wanted people to watch the movies first. I'm not kidding when I say 90% of the context is in those 3 movies for understanding the two main characters.

Jyiber

If you go to MAL and look up the series--scroll down to the section that lists sequels/prequels/spinoffs (and trust me, this series is littered with lots) and follow the series as they've ordered it you'll be closest to watching the events in chronological order. I had to learn how to watch this series as I was watching it, and let me tell you, it's frustrating.

It's funny, because I watched the movies before I even knew about the show and I'll say I still prefer it in that order for the narrative's sake. There are a few things in the movies that are framed with the existence of the show in mind, but that doesn't necessarily mean you're obligated to watch them in order of release date. They released several things out of order for budget reasons.

a commonly agreed order for first time watchers is this, which i also personally agree with: https://i.imgur.com/wBD4dnm.jpg its not hard to appreciate the character developments without the initial context of Kizumonogatari. I think they would still find the character developments of certain characters moving.

SlightlyTsun

I’m putting my vote in for airing order.

kungoner

This is one of my favourite animes ever. So excited you guys are doing this show.

Definitely, I always go for airing order on the first watch, any alternative on rewatch. Don’t even get what the argument is about, there’s hardly any shows, that benefit greatly from altering the watching order.

Yuion

im watching monogatari for the first time with the bros im was like: what the fuck?

Connor Brown

I made it through %60 of this, but fell off. Cant wait to watch along with you guys. The discussion is going to be great!

Agnus Agnus

Kaiki is the only thing I care about in monogatari, best girl.

Kopplex

Can someone share the order in which the bros are going to watch this ? I know it's somewhere in the discord but I couldn't find it. (I'm a first time watcher too)

Kopplex
>>18816949

I think most people will be happy because this means full length reactions for everyone x)

Lucy
>>18816949

Well, I kinda expected that, even though I hope they might try to get rid of the claim. I'm a minority but I just don't like full length, cause the parts cut out of 10 min are usually just them paying attention and quietly watching, which is needed even more in a show like this, but not really reaction worthy. Also with the whole episode I just end up watching the anime not paying attention to what bros are thinking haha.

Lucy

I believe they'll be doing the 3 kizu movies after this season, and the rest in airing order.

uwu owo

ah a shame it got taken down, got the full reaction sure but that doesnt have the discussion in it, well im expecting this to be back up shortly in timer format anyway so no big deal.

>>18816949

The problem with full length timer format for this series is that there's at least two releases of it i've seen. And it will be pain to figure out which one they watching, without seeing the footage, just with subs. But i guess no choice with this one.

Muad'Derp
>>18815171

Kizu is part of this season because both Bake and Kizu are part of first season.

Daniel Shaw

well boy howdy if this isn't the shot in the arm I needed to finally tackle this series

Sharknessa

There seems to be a major time difference between the version you're using and the version on Crunchyroll. It caused some synch issues.

Daiki
>>18857194

They are using a bluray version checked the desync with cr, it is at about 12 seconds at the end desync points are mostly the aniplex logo at the beginning and cr lingering more on the title card after the op from what i have observed (in general, cr isn't a good place to watch bake, because of 480p and the last 3 episodes missing)

SONMUNHAK

bakemonogaktari... one of the shittest anime of all time

Ace of Blades
>>18806537

Only series where there's a credible debate for the order to watch in is Haruhi, and even then it's more for preference than being clear-cut.

Daniel Salgado

27:34 you basically described Boogiepop wa warawanai. Great anime, is airing now.

Ghoul
>>18815171

Why are they not doing it in airing order and watching kizumonogatari near the end?

Lucy
>>18815171

Well kizumonogatari novel came right after bakemonogatari novels, so they are doing it in the order the author wrote it in
