Content

We cajole Slavoj Žižek to enter the Gurometer and see what interpretive ideology emerges on the other side. Diving deep into his labyrinthine theories and unique perspectives, Žižek's provocative ideas on ideology, consumerism, and sharks provide a rich field for our high-precision instrument. Agree with us, disagree, laugh, cry, scream, do what you must... and produce your own score if you feel like it!

Can't tell if the approach has changed but for some reason this felt like one of the best Gurometer eps I can remember. Maybe it's just because you were both in agreement on most points but it seemed to flow especially well!

It would be great if there was a way to track and aggregate a “community score” for the Gurometer. Something like a widget or web app that allowed Patreon listeners to input their own Gurometer scores. The only reason to limit access to paid subscribers is to reduce the gurus’ fans from spamming the gurometer. The scores would be averaged into a single “community rating”. I recognize that this may not be a simple—I am not a web developer and have no idea how it would work—but the concept is sound if there is a practical way to accomplish it. Perhaps there are listeners who know something about interactive web widgets and polls. Good ep as ever. Thanks!

Field of philosophy should shame, they make Zizek look bad

It’s not 50 max, because you added 1 category!

Yeah Contrapoints very much avoids opining on a range of topics, she doesn't like the blowback she sometimes gets. What things she does talk about tend to be very focused within her video content.
