Yaay new supplementary material 🎊

Ema

Best Venezuela hot take yet!

Ben Godek

I’ve seen other people claim that Nick Fuentes is so smart and funny and I genuinely have no idea what they’re seeing. He’s like a black hole of charisma.

Martin 🇧🇻

Goddamnit, Jimmy Carr...why in the hell can't anyone just stick to what they're good at? Why does every damn comedian have to be a polymath? Edit: About stand-up comedy being taught in schools - at least he is talking about comedy! That's the kind of stupid takes I want from my comics - not them talking about physics or medicine!

Emma

Sometimes closely related species can interbreed and produce viable, if infertile, offspring. That could be a sci fi premises that one of these optimisers produced chimpanzee sperm and created a half chimpanzee half human baby.

Kelly 🇮🇪 🇦🇺

Did anyone else say "WHAT THE FUCK??" outloud when they spoke about the chimpanzee balls?

Roscoe 112

This chimp talk is nuts.

Rich F

(Haven't listened yet. Working. This might already have been addressed in the Supplementos.

Jason

I don’t know whether I want to get the notes for Chris‘ 14 week course on how to properly evaluate scientific papers or….. chimpanzee testicles! Hmmmm

Beefbeefbeef

The chess player is a dj, I imagine that might play a role in hearing loss lol.

Linda Sears

Speaking of the Celtic sphere of influence, I’m willing to bet that Irish bars are found in most large cities in the U.S. and Europe. They even have them in Istanbul, Turkey.

Frances goulart

Maybe adding a little bump of testosterone to the Turkey Chili? Optimize the shill!!

DavenPsych

Huberman’s turkey chili made me think of something I’d love to see DtG cover: For some time now, my wife has really enjoyed the Mel Robbins podcast. Mel Robbins has generally been off-putting to me, partially because of the way she uses “I love you” towards her audience and the parasocial implications of that approach. Recently, my wife expressed concern about Mel Robbins because she had apparently done a full podcast on the importance of protein (truly ground-breaking stuff) and shortly thereafter released her own protein supplement! My wife commented on that feeling a little bit like Mel was taking advantage of her audience. I couldn’t help but agree and would love to hear DtG’s take on her content, overall.

What's That Noise?

Come the Culture War equivalent of the Nuremberg trials being a Goop Collaborator will be a punishable offence.

Rich F

Thank u lads. I've been in need of diversion. Get well soon too.

Straffles

n = 3 I snorted. Out loud.

Tim Tripp

God Joe Rogan sucks.

Tristram Vahan Draper

I've heard people say that all science is really physics. Most of them are usually getting their physics BS at the time.

jpops

Botez sounds like a nightmare patient for a doctor

Joanna Mulvaney

if hearing loss was as simple as prednisone, we’d all be very happy. its the arrogance that gets me very cross indeed.

Lucy

Is there a non X link for the home alone paper? I’d like to share it with my students who take stats.

Trees

3? 3?!!!!🤣 😫 3?

Not Insane

Robert Anton Wilson reasoned that God must reside in the penis since the Catholic Church refuses to ordain women. Good to see traditional religious values persisting in all the persons of quality of our dark days.

Jordan

Asking for a friend. Please record and read the rest of the Bryan Johnson post. Please!

Zendegi Leonard

I have the blue glasses people too much credit too and thought they would at least have 31 people.

Paul Ditta

Esprit de corps? Boys Did you mean “joie de vivre”? Although I probably spelled both incorrectly. Anyway. Andrew Huberman. Honestly. Words fail. But all these snake oil salesman, con artists and populists, I am getting less and less sympathetic toward the people who fall for this shit. I know, I know, critical thinking isn’t taught well, it’s structural, it’s the weaponisation of human psychology against itself. But, fuck me, how blatant does it have to be? Anyway, loved the episode. I hope Matt survives what is obviously a harrowing and life threatening illness.

Nat J

I was under the impression that at n=3 you can’t even calculate a significance level. (But maybe you guys n gals have fancier techniques once you’re past AP stats. )

Randy

The chimp testicles made me think of the novella Heart of a Dog by Bulgakov. A doctor puts human testicles and pituitary gland into a dog. It's a great work of anti-Bolshevik satire.

Andrew Millar

In the case of the Botez(?) sisters, I have noted a general trend of people distrusting doctors and their advice. There’s an “I know better” culture. Among influencers, who are fluffed by their popularity, is this amplified? Might be the narcissistic thing called out.

Linda Sears

It’s pretty awful to hear about how Bryan Johnson treated his former partner. It sounds like he couldn’t stand to be around someone who was ill with cancer either because it would somehow taint him and/or he doesn’t have the moral character to stand by someone who is going through real life struggles. Knowing about that background just adds a whole additional level of wrongness to his exhibitionism.

Zaniken

On the jimmy car point, modern ai llms are modeled more directly after biology than physics

Idan Ca

Oh that chess girl was something else… the way that popularity and audience size have replaced true indicators of veracity or expertise is absolutely disheartening

Lucyna

Omg, I almost died listening to that pompous write up about being horny his partner. Not in the spirit, but the expression. “She’s always shy on return?” Dude, she’s probably tired from the flight. Let her take her shoes off. Christ.

JimJamSlammer

I worked on a university production of a play called "Quack" where the main character was stitching kangaroo testicles into been to reinvigorate them. Great fun

Matt Dear

Only Rogan could mistake a committed fascist for a court jester

Sam Stephenson

Remember kids, to do causal inference have a sample size of one and twenty different overlapping treatments

Dylan Larkn

Are we getting a legal mindset segment??

Gerard Marchesseau

Yea, Jimmy Carr talked about dinner with Eric Weinstein and how he might be the smartest person he’s ever met. But the chimpanzee testical thing? Better fact check that.

DJM

Matt- regarding delusions of expertise in gambling, would you consider something like basic blackjack strategy a delusion of expertise?

Jillian fon Swa

You forgot to mention that in the Goop article Andrew huberman essentially backs RFK Jr’s vaccine hesitancy. Disgusting

Shifter

Shh no one tell Jimmy Carr that machine learning has been used in physics modeling for decades

Melinda

Brilliant episode. I laughed, I cried. Well, I didn't cry but I got quite angry about these gurus that happily rip off the poor punters with health problems. I've recently developed a fun thing called vestibular migraine and my god (say it in Chris voice), the crap that comes up on your social media when the algorithm finds out you've got something that might make you amenable to buying various supplements, devices, programs, oils and potions. Again. my. god.
