Maybe Matt once met a guy called Mick Drop and his subconscious just gets confused 🤔

Conor McGee

Absolutely butchers Northern Irish history and culture: Ah well. "mick drop": Matt must be held to account!

David H

I'm rather intrigued by this Bedouin-style tent that may attract cats.

Rich F

The thought of cracking open a cold one and listening to this is giving me life. Billie Eilish you absolute legend. The only thing better would have been a series of Home Alone-style booby traps in her house for when Drew showed up. (I know, i know, he said he was joking. Its just funny to imagine that)

What's That Noise?

Matt's gone too far with his mispronunciations now — he's taking the mic-y

Níall

Start of that episode felt like an episode of QI with the obvious leading question... 🚨 🚨 WRONG ANSWER IDIOT 🚨 🚨

Salex

Bloody hell, a Weinstein round-up?! Mind-numbing. Anaesthetised grey matter is now dribbling out my ears.

Salex

The shark is just a shark, and the pizza is just pizza

Duncan

"Eric goes on to mention Chopin and Tchaikovsky." Chopin was Polish not Russian. Doesn't this Eric fellow know anything?

DJM

Obama did the mick drop at a different speech from when he made fun of Trump. Also, you cant say Weinstein, so go easy on Matt for saying Mick.

Jenny

Russia is Eric's Roman Empire

Elissa

In a show of resistance and solidarity I will now attempt to make ‘mick drop’ a ‘thing’.

Kyle Wilson

Bret with at least 3 more game theory mentions for Dan to add to his song

Linda Sears

When Chris mentioned Konstantin as a favorite for dunking on, I immediately imagined him in one of those dunk tanks that people throw baseballs at.

Jenny

It is infuriating that Eric drones on and on about the West needing to imagine Eastern Europe as part of it while, in his paean to Russia he is implicitly trashing Ukraine's struggle to be part of Europe. He can eff off forever

Joe Euro

The glee in Matt's voice when Chris mispronounced Chopin 💕

Idan Ca

Is it possible, and I realize this may be a novel idea, that Bret Weinstein is just a silly stupid idiot of a man?

Rich F

Eric: "Einstein is the problem" Hahahaaaaa. Aw god. That killjoy Albert Einstein. "Nothing faster than light". All that old stuff. Imposing limits on us. (Not just trying to accurately describe reality. No, not that.) Eric you drivelling f***ing tool.

Amy

What gets me about Weinstein’s conspiracies about Epstein is that it frames Epstein as a kind of heroic figure gathering dirt on all these awful people. Um, hello, this guy was a pedo and sex trafficker. He had nothing left to live for once he finally faced consequences.

Kyle Dun

Brett's ego that he thinks any cabal worth their salt would care enough to try to kill him, shows how mentally unstable he is. "Im not suicidal and in good health". Not great health mate, not great.

iffydonatello

At this point, I am starting to think the main difference between Australian English is that all the vowels shift from short to long and visa versa.

Mark Francis

So is Eric moving to Mother Russia?

Chris Rincón

While we’re calling out mispronunciations, repeat after me: NOO-klee-er 😁

Karen 🇨🇦🇺🇸

I love this podcast but I don’t think I can forgive you two for bringing the Weinstein clan to my attention. Listening to them is soul destroying. And I can’t believe I have to say this out loud but poor Konstantine.

Ryan Bruno

Matt sensed the trap immediately with the mick drop bit lol

Kawaii Leonard

Matt’s Mick Drops vs Chris not being able to pronounce the “th” sound is a beautiful sonic gumbo

Ryan Bruno

Been contemplating using the dark horse as my sleep podcast but i worry itll have the opposite effect of what they say mozart has

Roland Weber

Was that "Adieu" at the end?

Robert Andrews

(Disclaimer: I am half-Irish) I thought you missed an open goal of a joke when you were talking about how the white supremacists have removed the Irish from their white supremacy. You could have called it a "Mick Drop". /#notracistiamhalfirish!

Martin 🇧🇻

Killswitch engage do a great cover version of Holy diver!

Martin 🇧🇻

I actually feel bad for William Campbell and Satoshi Ōmura, the discoverers of Ivermectin. They have to watch these idiots talk about and misuse a great, Nobel Prize winning, discovery.

pete s

Highly educational episode. From now on, whenever i am losing an argument, i will snap my fingers and yell "GAME THEORY." "Pete," my wife will say, "why did you trade the family cow for this shitty bag of beans?" "GAME THEORY!" It'll be non-stop mick drops from here on out!

Daniel VI

Great episode. Always enjoying catching up with Weinstein world. Brett is a total conspiracy freak, and a menace, but at least he has found his niche. Eric is sounding increasingly desperate, in trying to find space in the discourse. He isn’t even able to sound convincing to motivated grifters like Konstantin any more.

Ben Godek

Brett’s whole thing about how you can game out exactly how someone would act based on understanding their situation is very anime. I wonder if he’s watched something like Death Note?

Stephen Cromwell

The desire to be inter planetary is connected to the tech bro desire to cheat death. They just can't handle the fact that their lives will end and eventually humanity will end. They're just not emotionally equipped to deal with the finality of it.

Nancy Hale

Speaking of pronunciations: Who pronounces “Xlear” as “clear”?

SHOUNAK SARKAR

Ooof the Weinsteins should be elevated to the DTG Hall of Fame, considering how much material they provide hehe!

SHOUNAK SARKAR

Chris, with regards to The Young Turks, Matt is right. I agree that the populist left can be conspiratorial too but it’s nowhere near a mirror image of the populist right / far-right. Populist left politicians like Zohran, AOC, Bernie (whatever you think of their policies) are rooted in reality, compared to their ideological contemporaries on the other side. I guess you will now say Jeremy Corbyn was a lunatic (he was), but that’s not the norm. While, Cenk & Anna haven’t made the complete leap to the far-right like Jimmy Dore, Tulsi & Glenn Greenwald, I would argue that they are only 3-4 steps behind. Cenk was recently hanging around with Benny Johnson, both him and Anna were praising Tucker Carlson. Don’t think they will ever make the full transition to the far-right; but they will ALWAYS stay on the edge of the horseshoe, where the far-left and far-right converge. Compare them to Kyle Kulinski (Secular Talk) who is also a populist leftist but has been vociferously criticising Cenk, Anna, Tucker, Joe Rogan over the last couple of years. His wife Krystal Ball also seems to have moderated her conspiratorial tendencies. Plus, there needs to be a distinction made between mainstream progressive left and populist, edgy left, as they are not the same.

Tim Tripp

So there are people that still take Brett seriously? Well I guess I am a sitting duck. I guess it is better to be a sitting duck than an absolute loon.

George

For someone who was allegedly a comedian, Konstantin is sure is cataclysmically humourless.

Linda Sears

I sort of fell asleep in part of this episode. That’s the first time I’ve ever done that. The surreal mixing of Bret and Heather’s ad reads, Epstein’s escape from prison (somehow), Eric’s interplanetary adventures, and the necessity of doing above ground nuclear weapons testing even though we all share the same atmosphere, so we need more planets to jump to was strangely soporific.

Nancy Hale

So, according to Eric W, Sabine, & co, physics has been stagnating for the past 50-60 years, right? And what stopped happening around 60 years ago? That’s right, we stopped above ground nuclear weapons tests. The answer to the physics crisis is so simple it’s breathtaking, and only Eric could figure it out. Start exploding nuclear devices out in the open, guys.

Gavin Bewick

Yeah, from a particle physics point of view, a nuclear bomb is a terrible experiment. The energies of the reactions are too low (compared to the thresholds for new physics to appear) and there's far too much happening at once to record it/make sense of... assuming you could detect anything without destroying your equipment. I know I shouldn't be shocked by Eric saying something stupid, but it still kind of haunts me that someone can get as far as he has in life by being nothing more than a bloviating entitled windbag.

Melinda

I thought my To Do list was work on my court files and do a bit of exercise, but I've crossed that out in favour of Defeat Einsten. Gonna be a busy day.

Ryan

There’s this passage from On Bullshit where he describes the bullshitter as being incapable of describing/understanding the world and so instead focuses entirely on himself. “It doesn’t matter what I believe about Russia, let’s instead discuss what I do with my son and how that implies deep cultural understanding”

Conor McGee

Chris, please let me draw your attention back to the Christopher Hitchens decoding, (Ep 72) and Matt's reaction to the final piece of Hitchens audio (around 16 minutes from the end). How long has he been getting away with this?
