Just finished the episode listening to this at 100x speed, I’ll need another episode by tomorrow

When Matt try's to be Nice, he compliments himself lol 🤣🤣 just at the nachos part lolol

FYI Covid boosters (every six months) in the US are still recommended, and paid for, for older folks and medically compromised persons (which covers a whole range of common conditions). I'm still taking them because we have waves that come every summer and fall and no one takes precautions anymore (and they are hardly reported on) so I just have to do what I can. People in the US just don't test anymore if they have any cold symptoms with the results that covid and flu have been really bad this winter, a lot of people I know getting sick. And yes, it's NAH- CHOHS!

Eric's connections to Epstein is doubly genius because he is connected to Epstein because he is important. But he also ignored the connection because he is a better person. Best of both worlds.

Michael M.

I think you guys are slightly off in your summary and impression of Tracey. He’s pretty non-partisan generally. He comes from a progressive left background, but has been critical of the russiagate stuff around trump and also generally critical of covid-era identity politics but never in an explicitly anti-woke sense. I’ve followed his work a while and he’s never had any real strong stances on vaccines or lab leak, though he was probably critical of the shift from lockdowns to endorsement of BLM protests in the states. He’s more of an anti-war civil libertarian with a good helping of contrarianism. He’s very critical of the pro trump and even pre-election trump adjacent populists like Dave Smith and he constantly shits on these folks for endorsing Trump. Anyway, I find his writing interesting and find his arguments, though they may be rapid-fire, to be very substantive.

Amy

9 minutes in and it’s the Obama giving Obama a medal meme for Matt. Definitely the wrong pronunciation of “nachos”.

Ok, so I'm in an airport with terrible phone service, dogpoo WiFi and see that reference number one is Romesh R (the acceptable face of comedy capitalism) and Tom Davies, who I find interesting artistically but know little about other than suspecting he might have 'strong views'. Or perhaps one of the lads just bigged up DTG as their fave pod??? Help me, the non listener to 'decode' the reason for their inclusion....

Rich F

Just catching the end bit. Jordan Hall. Been cooking n stuff. Need to give this one another spin at the weekend. Anyway that cheered me. I rewound it and listened again.

Empty_Cognizance

@ 31:00 I think it was Nebula? (the video platform that The Dark Warrior of the People went to)

Michael Tracey was a Young Turks guy, too.

ValueSoup

I wrote to Ryan Grim once, because an article he wrote for The Intercept was misrepresenting a study I was familiar with, and I asked him make a correction. He never wrote back, nor updated the article, so ever since then I've been taking his reporting with a pinch of salt. He IS one of the co-founders of Dropsite News that has done some very good reporting from Gaza, and also seem to have sources inside the Iranian government. Maybe that's the reason Grim earned himself a spot in a Lego propaganda video?

Guy Walter

Don’t want to kick Matt while he’s down, but penultimate means second to last!

Ad Tastic

"Jeffrey Epstein has been mirroring my life..." is a thing you probably dont wanna be saying on the world's most popular podcast

Frances goulart

Candace, you've gotten out of 4th grade and you are a millionaire, I presume. It's " he and I", not " him and me" when it is the subject of your sentence! It's like fingers on the blackboard to me!!

Nancy Hale

There should be penalties for endlessly talking over everyone else on a panel.

If I recall correctly, Ana Kasparian’s initial schism with her (nominally) left-wing former in-group occurred because she discussed publicly a genuinely scary encounter she had with a man who was either homeless, a person of color, or both, and that community responded poorly to one degree or another. I’m sure that sucked for her and I think it’s genuinely dumb, but it’s difficult to know how widespread it was outside of her perception or to attribute it exclusively to the priors of that group surrounding people who are marginalized in some way. What’s certain (to me) is that she’s not as unbreakable as she thinks if that experience alone opened the door for her to abandon her supposed convictions and start snuggling with anti-semites. Anyway, hopefully I’m not thinking of someone else entirely

Calling Joe Rogan a very bad thinker extends an unexpected amount of goodwill towards him... I mean... "thinker"?

Ben Godek

Michael Tracy pressing someone is kind of hilarious because he will twist himself into pretzels avoiding a direct question if it’s inconvenient for him. There was an incredible moment from a debate on Ukraine where Dylan Burns gets frustrated with his evasiveness and asks him if Biden should nuke Moscow (something where they should agree that the answer is clearly no). Tracy just sputters out, assuming it must be some trap. Dylan just gives such an exasperated “Really Michael?”

Martin 🇧🇻

Fuck me! I had to pause when Bret gave podcasters the credit for the booster thing. That is a whole new level of narcissism. I mean, even for a Weinstein that is taking it far🤣

ji

I have a covid booster every year. Just do it with together with flu every year.

Lucy

I wonder why Rogan has Eric on so much. Eric seems like such a ponderous fuddy duddy.

Conor McGee

At this point it's impossible for me to think Matt has the discipline to be doing the mispronunciations as a gag for this long, but it's also impossible for me to believe he's genuinely never been corrected on these before. I'm deeply troubled by it.

Patreon Sucks

My thought about these pundits who get semi cancelled and then return with a move to the more extreme… it feels like they do this to maintain their economic viability. What if they got regular jobs? Have any of them considered that?

Michael Ball

That whole Eric vs Sean clip was annoying AF. When Sean said Eric doesn't have a Lagrangian, he meant to say that Eric doesnt have a complete lagrangian for the full "theory", and thus hasn't even attempted to demonstrate any of the usual consistency checks and other calculational things one would do. Which is true. When he said that there's nothing about proton decay, he meant that there are no implications for proton decay in the paper, e.g. no calculation showing the proton is unstable and calculating its decay rate. Also true. Eric presumably understands this, but can willfully mislead credulous Joe and his audience by pointing to a formula labelled "lagrangian" and the words "proton decay" in his paper, and thus convince these people that Sean was lying. In reality Joe and company don't understand how little they understand, and so have the hubris to just accept Erics word for it. I think that sums up about 80% of the Joe Rogan Experience. People confidently asserting wrong stuff people they are ignorant of their own igorance.

Heidi Sævareid

Ana's ominous use of "them" when she talks about the Jews is really telling. And so is her use of “us”. She turns Jews into a totally separate, foreign and sinister entity.

I really cannot overstate how much I hate the Weinstein Brothers. The two most insufferable people alive right now.

Linda Sears

It strikes me that Eric and Jeffrey Epstein are/were both constructs (big emphasis on the con).

Duncan

This string theory mafia, is it La Cosa Knotra?

Da Jay SwIzzle

As a Canadian, I was embarrassed to listen to this episode portion dealing with the Tracey/Weinstein debate. We're not sending our best...

AJ

How do I start a petition to create a new thread dedicated to Matt's "Mattisms" - where we list all the weird pronunciations spoken by Matt?

AJ

Eric Weinstein is either the David Brent or George Costanza of the pseudo-intellectual podcaster community. I can't decide which.

George

Fuck me the Weinstein's suck.

George

Matt's semi-in-jest line about Eric being a construct of his own construction is absolutely bang on. Bravo

Leigha

Go look at the comments under the Eric episode

Monica B.

A somehow joyful listen featuring some pretty terrible people! Candace and Ana (UGH) and Eric (how does anyone take him seriously?!?!)

In the financial times article about the imprisonment of Uyghurs, is there really mention of sterilization and forcing Uyghur women to marry Han Chinese men? Its behind a pay wall
