Another day, another interview.

We have now got a hell of a backlog developing so we are going to be pushing out one or two episodes a week for the next while but before that here in all it's crowning glory is the unedited video of our discussion with Josh Szeps on all the things listed in the title.

Release schedule will look something like this:

1. Liam (as soon as it is ready this week) 2. Lindsay & O'Fallon (Fri/weekend) 3. Timbah (early next week) 4. Julian and/or Josh (Next week: Fri/Weekend) 5. Elgen Strait (Following week 2 episodes: Interview & Decoding Reverend Moon episode)

Coming up this week we also have our crossover Movie event... Very Bad Gurus. So that too will have to be edited and released at some point.

And somewhere along the line we will also have Jaron Lanier as the next target guru for our next mini season on Tech Gurus & Bitcoiners.

*Phew*

In any case, this interview is in video format only for the time being as the audio file needs some work to make it the correct size to upload but it is coming. We have also not forgot about updating the feed and scheduling the next Live Hangout... but just a lot to juggle at the minute so bear with us.

Wow what a line up! Really looking forward to the very bad gurus event. Are you still doing the David Fuller interview? I like the guests who are a bit sympathetic to heterodox ideas

I think it is easy to be a bit glib about the spread of medical misinformation when you are not directly being affected by it. In my family my 81 yo nana has dementia and is living with my aunt and mum. The whole lot of them are refusing to get vaxxed because they have bought into misinformation from sources including Malone! Now covid is taking off in NZ and they are all out at the protests (which the police are trying to stop by playing James Blunt and Barry Manilow) where they are likely to catch covid, and the chances of them giving it to nana and actually killing her are high.

Decoding The Gurus

Agreed! Medical disinformation kills. I think Josh would be willing to grapple with that but it is important to recognise that is the cost.

I really like this Josh Szeps interview. Good to see him present something close to my views being represented by someone smarter than me.

I am loving all this content, and (not but!) am beginning to wonder if you guys really have "day jobs". But I guess this stuff IS your day job, especially if you get a paper or three out of it.☺

Gibz

Great pod, ty!

Jeremy Stewart

Does all the stuff you put up here end up on the patreon podcast feed eventually? Haven't quite figured that out yet

When you guys played the clip of Rogan reacting to the primatologist who called in to say he was misinformed, that is what did it for me. That clip highlighted the dark side, the side that's not so laid back or cool or nice or just asking questions. It hit me like an abusive boyfriend that this man hates women. He was not calm like he is on his show and it's what gave the glimpse behind his facade. I'm disappointed that this incident still isn't seen as one of his lowest moments.

Grammaticus Gore

I wish Josh was given the morning show over James Valentine. Great for the ABC

Ryan

^ I would agree that Josh isn't really defending Rogan. He is defending the idea that people should be allowed to share their opinions, and more specifically that attempting to set the boundary for what is acceptable conversation is just not tenable for fairly obvious reasons.

The phrase "Sunlight is the best disinfectant" assumes that the huge powerful nuclear ball in the sky is the truth and that the bad ideas are the tiny microscopic bacteria. In reality it more like Carl Sagan's candle in the dark where the truth is this tiny flame in a huge chasm of pseudoscience.
