For those of you unaware there was a landslide victory in the next decoding poll for a return to the Weinstein bros and UFOs.

However, we released during preparation that it is simply too much Weinstein to do both brothers in one go, so...

First up is Eric.

Here is the interview we will be looking at, which also featured recent guest Mick West.

Bret will have a separate episode potentially with a certain Wizard-y guest decoder.

We will break up the Weinstein madness with Chomsky or McConaughey so look forward to that too.

Enjoy!

I hope you're listening to mcConaughty on lex friedman!

Great choice! Thought Mick did an excellent job pushing back on Eric’s lawyer-y type attempts to corner Mick into agreeing with his cockamamie positions. I’m also glad Mick makes Eric “not feel good inside” with some of his objective critiques 🤣

The level of whinging/emotional manipulation "I didn't feel very good about that"/"you're not very nice to me" from Eric was just nauseating! He did, however, have some moments of reasonableness. I do wonder though, if I'd have found him so hard to take if I hadn't listened to you guys' earlier episodes featuring him and his unstable genius/Nobel prize-deserving brother. The decoding is gonna be fun!

Having a hard time finding the audio version of the orig podcast? The pod is called TOE? Didn’t see them together on either of each others, seems like a third party sitch?

Mick said he liked to "flex his programming muscles" building simulations and Eric throws a fit, claiming he's basically said that he is just out to flex on people online. Unfortunate that Mick didn't immediately recall his specific usage of the word, but Eric was objectively wrong in his accusation and got very triggered over his own misunderstanding. A revolutionary genius at his finest lol.

There's an opportunity cost to looking for "new science" in UFOs as Eric thinks should be done. Why should scientists explore something that has turned out time and again to not be that interesting, at the expense of not exploring other aspects of our universe that are more likely to yield discoveries? He's intrigued by the frequency of UFO sightings but it seems like that can be well explained as a recurring psychosocial phenomenon in extremely large populations. Lots of people see ghosts too.

Aww poor Eric! His primal urges to disappear into a world of super-heroes and fantasy was (it seems like) severely discouraged by his atheistic family, going all the way back 5 generations. In his mind it seems that if you grew up in that sort of environment then you are starved for creative imagination and the freedom to indulge them. In the world of a "debunker" there is no creativity, and there isn't (but should be he argues) any ability for creatives to be skeptical or engage in appropriate debunking. Damn I wish someone had set me straight so I wouldn't have become a critically thinking/skeptical pagan writer/dance theater maker/storyteller/metaphor/symbolism wizard! Where should I stand in this black and white world? I have no idea! 😂 I'm glad Eric has it all figured out though. My troubled soul can rest easy now.

Mick deserves an award for having that long of a conversation with Eric. I’m about half way through, but so far, Mick has remained very composed given that Eric keeps misrepresenting Micks stance.
