Such a fascinating look at the behind of making the album. I am so excited to listen to the full album with you lovelies. But this really answered a lot of questions I had been seeing around the internet.

It was the longer version that was used and I’m happy they did it. First, so many people didn’t realize that it was in the background while they were singing, they only noticed it when it was the only thing playing at the end. Second, the longer it played the more goosebumps I had and it’s been so touching seeing Koreans living in other parts of the world getting emotional singing along. In terms of how involved the company is, I think it’s actually less when they’re solo. When you dive more into their solos you’ll see how different the approaches were based on how each member wanted to create and promote their music

i find it so interesting how people on the internet would complain about how this album “isn’t korean enough” when BTS are the ones who wanted this album to be centered around their roots and where they came from, even opposing the idea of putting more english lyrics. it’s even more upsetting when this critique comes from people who are not even korean…i feel like people who are not korean shouldn’t have a right to say what is korean enough imo…it seems like whenever the boys give their all, it’s still not enough which is definitely a big reason why they felt so much pressure with this comeback. ARIRANG to me is the best work they’ve put out so far and i believe that it is because of what you said…that they were able to express themselves outside of the constraints of the kpop industry and how they rush you to constantly put out something. i’m so proud of them and you could just tell the hard work they put in and their growth just by listening to the album with no prejudice.

The English CC actually has a completely different read on the -- use more English -- conversation than the English subtitles and in my opinion after using translation apps on the Hangul and my basic Korean understand, the English CC translates that conversation more cleanly. It was wild to se how different the 2 versions were. The English translations seem very critical and dismissive of On and Black Swan and the English CC ones soften it to more like : On and Black Swan weren't initially as relatable but because they were your stories that's why they are so loved. And I hate that Nicole got so much hate for what seems to be a potentially lazy or slightly misrepresented translation.

I had to watch it with both subtitles and once with the Korean Hangul so I could feel confident that I understood as much as possible before I could speak to all the hate and negativity surrounding some of the comments out there. And a lot of people needed the CC subtitles because English is also a 2nd or 3rd language for them and they needed the English to be subtitled on the screen as well.
