Yup, I donned my Fundoshi Thong for another run through snow and ice. This one was like a mosh pit! But fun and worth the experience to learn more about Japanese culture - how deep and ancient it is. This ritual goes back 1200 years, one of the big 3 Hadaka matsuri! I might be officially retired from these LOL Enjoy and leave me a comment on the YouTube page. Thank you so much for the support to make this kind of content! I'll keep taking you to the countryside and places unknown! -John \(^_^) - and thank you UFO Bob for previewing this!

Surviving an Extreme Japanese Winter Festival through Snow & Ice ★ ONLY in JAPAN

Winter in Japan can be brutally cold in the mountains, snow piles up. In Urasa, Niigata, residents participate in one of Japans famous "hadaka matsuri" #裸祭り or Naked Man Festivals with white fundoshi thongs. It's deeply rooted in local culture and the Bishamondo Temple. Participants in groups of 4 chant "Sanyo, Sanyo" and purify themselves in an ice bath then running to the main hall to push! This festival has evolved over it's 1200 years but the ritual has the same elements of purity, prayer and pushing! Japanese cultural experience not to be missed on the first Saturday of March every year. 00:00 Start #onlyinjapan
