Tokyo’s Hay Fever & Influenza Dilema | History of Cedar after WWII

There is no bad time to visit Tokyo except perhaps morning rush hour and — right now! It’s the start of hay fever season and the peak of influenza season. Sneezing and fevers! It’s how zombie apocalypses start — but there is history behind this hay fever dilemma and the city is trying to fix it (thank you forestry department!)

Hey John anything special coming up with you and Peter

Eric Holleran

Thanks John for the live stream.

Oh yeah! Hinoki pollen season is about to start... ^_^

Jaroslav (Japan Kofun)

As someone who has had a lifetime of hayfever from pollen etc. in Australia, I wonder how I'll go living in Tokyo now. Bit of a concern :-( Seems the Claratyne/Loratadine etc. will need to be kept close at hand (saw that "forcefield" spray thing the other day too at one of the train stations - I'm very skeptical about it too, wife and I had a good laugh about it actually haha).

Sunny De Jesus (Tasty Chronicles)

Hi John, Just finished watching this livestream. Funny how I heard Tasty Chronicles during the conversation. LMAO. Yes, send the masks! I can setup another OIJ Community livestream and we'll review the effectiveness of Japanese face masks in Los Angeles. Hahahaha. I know the perfect place to film the livestream. Hopefully the pollen count is very high when we go live.

Awesome!! I’ll send it with the devil mask for Setsubun. Still haven’t found one but will look tomorrow. Been crazy finishing up latest main channel video. Almost 20 min long!

I ALMOST bought one to try but — 😂 couldn’t bring myself to waste it. Will buy Kanae flowers instead.

I had hayfever really bad when I was younger. My eyes watered and itched as well as my palate, runny nose and sneezing. Whoa! Never had the pounding heart that you have John! That can't be comfortable! I don't get it much at all anymore as I got shots. Is this something you have considered John?

Good to know about the hayfever season there as I'm going over there in about a month now. Fortunately I've never been affected by it...although I'll make sure those traveling with me are aware of this :P As i'm fairly sure two of them will be affected by it.
