Why Japanese Look Younger, Live Longer | Onsen Story ★ ONLY in JAPAN

Every Centenarian I talk to, people who are over 100 years old. tell me one of the things to a long life is visiting a Japanese hot spring or onsen regularly. It's one of many things but I wanted to know why and how hot springs can not only make us look and feel younger but help us live longer. I traveled to Nakanosawa Onsen, Tsurunoyu Onsen and Tamagawa Onsen to look at how special the waters are, geothermal heated spring water full of natural chemical compounds and minerals. Is there more to it than just soaking in a bath? 00:00 Start 01:03 Where are we? 02:07 Hot Spring Hiking 03:00 A Wild Onsen / Hot Spring 05:23 Health Benefits of Hot Spring Interview 07:56 Tsurunoyu Onsen | Akita 09:36 Japan's Most Powerful Hot Spring 10:26 Why do Japanese have smooth skin? 11:20 9 Types of Hot Spring Baths 12:32 Rationality of Onsen 13:13 Conclusion 13:46 Meet Life Where I'm From Greg! I watched both - crazy that both of you took spills, protected your cameras but hurt your legs!

Jason Bourgeois

Really enjoyed this story! Well shot too! 👍

Jerry Batorne

I need the onsen in my life right now!😔

Raymond Centeno

I don't know if I have the courage to dip in that acidic onsen

Vern Dietsche (aka UFO Bob)

I know I am late to the party, but I want to add my two cents anyway. From my perspective, I saw no flaws or weaknesses. As always, another fascinating episode of OIJ (I had know idea that there were so many facets to the onsen story), expertly shot. Thanks, John for bringing us along.

Wow you and Greg have to walk a lot to get to the top of the mountain and using the Dron got nice view from the top I said this because I just saw Greg video but I saw your video first 😀

Sunny De Jesus (Tasty Chronicles)

It was quite nice to finally watch your video John. You and Greg have different styles of filming and telling a story. I still think you should have went to the waterfall. Soaking in cold water and back into hot is very good for blood circulation. We all know you can sort of handle frigid cold water after running around in several naked man festivals. LOL. You crazy man.

To be honest, I didn’t want to go past the DANGER sign ... and think he may have hiked around it. Just didn’t know where was safe. If he went down, I’d be able to go for help. No signal, no people there - just us.
