150 Year Old Japanese Dolls | Yajiro Kokeshi

Kokeshi have a long history as gifts from Tohoku's hot spring towns. There are 10 or 11 main varieties of Kokeshi and today we're at the Yajiro Kokeshi Village in Shiroishi, Miyagi about 1 hour from Sendai city. Niiyama-san who is a Kokeshi master artisan will make one for us in his workshop and explain about the colors, the styles and how to judge what makes them beautiful. You can check out this Kokeshi village here, not far from the Zao Fox Village and other area attractions: https://goo.gl/maps/WErFZYdVQFKmXcT4A ▶︎ New ONLY in JAPAN channel with edited stories: http://youtube.com/johndaub ▶︎ Instagram: http://instagram.com/onlyinjapantv ▶︎ Twitter: http://twitter.com/onlyinjapantv ▶︎ Facebook: http://facebook.com/onlyinjapantv ▶︎ Discord: http://discord.gg/onlyinjapan (Our community online!) Such a wonderful tradition and a very nice man. The dolls and the top that you two made together are awesome! What a great vlog John, thank you for sharing. Also I like when you're explaining what they're doing, you use the picture in picture. It's nice to see the person explaining it as we're watching the person do the activity.
