Is it easy to get a bus ticket from the train station (Oishida) to Ginzan Onsen or should this be booked in advance somewhere? Also, would you recommend 1 or 2 nights there? It seems like a rather small time for a 2 night trip to be worthwhile. Is there much to do there apart from the ryokan and onsen experience?

Your accommodation should have free transport. You can also call and ask them if you can use the bus, try to hitch a ride 😂 I’d recommend whatever you can get! 1 night feels fast because you start checking out, packing right after breakfast. Staying a second night feels less rushed, you have the place mostly to yourself as most people checked out.

Tetsu? I’ve not had a bad bowl in Tokyo. Tetsu is a chain, in a lot of places. The have the “yaki-ishi” hot rock 🪨 that heats up the soup again. So cool.
