JR Rail Pass Price Hike Explained | Japan Travel Update

From October 2023, the price of JR RAIL PASSES will go up quite a lot, about 40% higher across the board. I’ll try to explain the price increase and why it’s expected. What’s its impact? #onlyinjapan # JRrailpass #Shinkansen

Not so sure about that. As it was one had to have at least two long distance train rides to break even and it was really only a bargain when a third long distance ride could be added in the 7 day time frame for the 7 day pass. Now if the 7 day pass allowed for 7 non consecutive days of travel then it would be a great value for those staying 10 days or more. Otherwise, the regional passes may actually now be a better value assuming they are not also seeing similar price hikes.

Will the prices increase for the shinkansen train tickets as we will travel without a pass.

Thanks Dale. My boys were so excited to be able to meet John. It looks like it will be a nice day tomorrow, so hopefully not too many clouds for Mt Fuji to hide behind and we get alot of nice photos. 😀.
