In 1923, the Great Kanto Earthquake was one that devastated Tokyo and even burned down the no.1 attraction, the 12 story Ryounkaku Tower with Japan’s first electric elevator and amazing view into the Yoshiwara and all the way to Mt Fuji on clear days.
