Let's head to Noboribetsu, Hokkaido to visit my friend Wakaki-san's toy museum! He started selling toys in 1965 and has collected these for decades, displaying them in 2014 after so many buyers came asking for his "dead stock" - I'll post the full interview in GO! tomorrow. Leave me comments on the YouTube video - thank you for making this possible! I was able to fly Matt with me to cover this thanks to the support here. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone as we wind down 2023, super excited to get back to Tokyo in 3 days! John

How JAPANESE TOYS took over our World | Nintendo, Godzilla, Transformers, Ultraman

Toys from Japan have always been innovative, from the 1954 Godzilla movie on, character toys sparked the imagination of generations. From cinema and TV, the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s brought us Kamen Rider, Ultraman, Super Sentai and many others still popular today. The 80s also brought us the Nintendo revolution, a company that started selling cars and paper models to the Ultra Machine and Ultra Hand, it broke out with the Family Computer (Famikon) in 1983 and the NES in 1985 in the USA then the Gameboy which put it all in your pocket. The 2000s is really the digital age, less toys Matt Alt’s Book: Pure Invention 📕 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1984826719 ▶︎ https://www.pureinventionbook.com Is an amazing look through so many toys and Japanese inventions that changed our lives. 🤖 Visit the Toy&Art Museum 古趣・北乃博物館 📍https://maps.app.goo.gl/B4iTzBZa77s2oqYk6 If Wakaki-san isn't there, visit his original toy store around the corner or call. ▶︎ phone: +81 143831730 / ワカキ玩具店 store: https://maps.app.goo.gl/281NhKxcFyHJiExw7 00:00 Start 01:00 Kaiju | Vintage Godzilla Toys 03:00 More #onlyinjapan #toys
