Hey everyone, so I did some light study trying to figure out blending modes. I enjoy line art a lot but struggle with colouring, this was meant to be a night scene but I find myself always drawn to the orange sunny palettes more. I swear my next light study will take place at night :P

P.S. That's Rhea with longer hair, a little further into the future (but not that far).

Thanks for sticking around and hope everyone is having a great start to the week!

EDITED: OK guys I tried the night thingy, I clearly did not prepare the layers for it HAHA. I'll try again on a different piece next time :P

I don't remember where I saw a similar moment, but this one looks awesome!

Tasha Wan

Your work is always so beautiful ✨

Isabella

Amazing!! Love it so much

Maya

This had my heart explode with emotions. I love the look in Rheas and Shiros eyes. I love the lighting and a new angle they were drawn in. This art has a lot of sincere emotions.

It looks amazing though. Them being enhanced by sunny back drop makes it seem so intimate hehe. But I get what u mean. If it had been like a night time setting maybe this encounter would've been more ethereal 🤔. Either way it looks stunning. P.s. I cant wait till we get to this point in the story!😆

Sara Marigomen

Im- oh my heart this is so beautiful ❤️ and the orange palette worked out so well. It gives me one of those dreamy scenes in an actually good drama show. Night scenes are p difficult with lighting but you got it!!

Lauren M

This looks so good!! The lighting is gorgeous, and something about the combination of the lighting and the angle makes this look cinematic. I could fully imagine this being a still from a movie.

Md Haziq

You really surprise me everytime with your posts. Am I sensing a future movie for these two? Hahaha like kimi no nawa

Jasper Yap

The lighting looks really good though ngl. The orange palette works well in this. It feels like it gives hope to the situation and it's suitable! Keep up the good work my g 😊

THE HIGHEST COMPLIMENT FROM ANOTHER TALENTED HUMAN

stephattyy

Thank you!! Im pretty sure I saw something similar too tbh, i just have trouble pinning the source 😂

stephattyy

Thank u Maya 🥺 sometimes i just wanna skip all the story and just draw these scenes without context cuz its got me feeling things 😭 BUT I CANT HAHAHAHA

stephattyy

Thank you!! Haha yes you’re right, initially i figured night cuz it’d be more... idk, quiet, or softer? Idk what the right words are but I guess either way works 😂 i wish i could summon all the talent and energy in the world to get to the story faster too 😭

stephattyy

Thank you Sara! Yes night scenes are hard, i dont know how the colours are supposed to look LOL. I get that it’s blue but irl everything is actually.. black? 😂 i gotta look it up more, hopefully I’ll nail it next time!

stephattyy

Thanks Lauren! Yeaaa i think its the aspect ratio, i chose 1920x1080 which is the typical cinematic composition hehe. I actually prefer drawing in this canvas size but for the sake of social media I’ve had to go with 5:4 most of the time, so this one was fun! :D

stephattyy

HAHA MOVIEEE? Pls lah if i can finish the comic in the next 5 years I’d be laughing 😂 but thanks HAHAHA

stephattyy

Thank u Jasper 🥺 gughshahaha i need to do MOARRE

Md Haziq

Then let us laugh together hahaha If a movie comes out within the timespan then we'll roll on the floor laughing as a community. Celebration laughter with the patreon community haha

Yoshi

Damn, the hope another comment mentioned is definitely replaced by something else at night! Unprepared layers or not, it still looks amazing. 🎉

Liza

Oh yasss, the night theme is perfect, I like it more that morning one🤤🤤🤤 maybe only, if from windows would come inside less of light, but that's just my opinion and in whatever case I like it very much😅😍😍😍😍

Sara Marigomen

I've seen some tips that use a purple fill layer with multiply. I haven't used it personally tho yet 😅

stephattyy

Thanks man!! I could def do a better job if i had planned ahead 😂 but its still nice to see how itd turn out, colour-wise. My next light study im gonna hv to be more intentional haha

stephattyy

Thanks Lizon! I bumped up the light outside just to emphasise the silhouette of those two, but dropping the contrast would give it a more gloomy cinematic feel which could work too depending on the tone im going for! 🤓
