The need for breaks...
So you may've noticed how quiet its been around here.
Those of you who are on my discord probably know that recently I've had some mental health issues that have hit hard in the last few weeks. These are not new, I've always had some problems and for whatever reason it came harder than it ever has before.
This I think was compounded by the guilt of not being able to complete work because I was unwell and being unwell because I wasn't able to complete work which snowballed into a vicious cycle. i decided brute force wasn't going to work and i just needed to step back while i chipped away slowly at a project.
The kind words and support I've received from everyone I've told has been amazing. I would like to apologise to and thank those who've been patiently understanding, and to those who are angry about being left in the dark for nearly 3 weeks, I'm sorry. Anyone who wishes to be refunded on missed work this month please don't hesitate to ask directly from me.
I've not gone anywhere though, (where would I go? lol) I still love what I do and the last week has been very affirming of that. I am again excited to work on projects.
There is a requirement I've been ignoring to have proper breaks, not just breaks from my desk but also breaks from the head-space I've been occupying for nearly 5 years. This one was forced on me.
The solution here is to recognise the signs of acute burnout before they happen and to not be afraid to take a step back when needed. In the future i will try my best to be more open about this if and when it happens again.
Once again, my thanks. You're all the best people.
