Hello patrons,

I hope you are doing well.

The best ambiences ideas came mostly from the community. Even though my to-do list has hundreds of entries, I still believe it's important to get yours now, as you may propose highly creative and useful elements.

My to-do list doesn't work on a FIFO (First In, First Out) process, but rather "best ideas out first" (with the constraint of actually being able to create it).

In that regard, I'm asking you to share, in the comments, the ideas you'd have for ambiences.

Tbh, you don't have to be super-extra creative. By example, I realized two weeks ago that I didn't have any "river" ambience... And it's much more useful than a "Water dragon lair in a demi-plane related to ancient greek gods of forge and lies".

Just make sure the place actually has sound in it ;)

I'm taking two days off in the mountains for ski+D&D (didn't travel for the past four years, it feels weird). I'm eager to read your propositions when I'm back, and start working again on Monday.

Have a great weekend!

Michael

A soundproof room. LOL jk - The Mere of Dead Men: swampy or marshy area where skeletons rise up and wade through the muck and water...menacing the party. https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Mere_of_Dead_Men - After the Battle: a major battle has taken place and the party is recovering among the other survivors. Some folks are coughing, groaning in pain, etc. and healers are at work (magical and otherwise) so you can hear them talking and casting healing spells. Versions could be hamlet/town, city, wilderness, temple, etc. - SFX: spell failure - What does it sound like when a spell fails? A few choices here for "counterspell", "dead magic zone", "miscast", etc. would be cool.

2026-09-11 02:00 I don't know if this is something you would be interested in making but I'd love some unintrusive background music with perfect loops. The sort of 10 minute loop you could listen to for hours. Keep them generic enough and appropriate for different themes "exploring a mysterious ruin" "meeting with the king" "scary dungeon". I have a lot of playlists of music but it's hard to find something appropriate quickly when I need it and then I'd just like to set it and leave it. The music from deadfire is sort of what I mean.

Love the above ideas, and in the same vein as Robins comment, the opposite; shorter (1-2minute) non-loop pieces for quick turns of events. ‘The villain revealed’ or ‘surprise assassination’… pieces that are labeled so when events change via RP I can quickly change the tone of the music

Rob Leonards 'Mere of Dead Men' idea is great. I'd love to use that. Other than that I've been playing some Fallout d20 RPG with the boys and I've been missing some post-apocalyptic stuff, if you could get into that (Shantytown out of rusted junk, Mutant infested buildings, Gunfight with Raiders, Storm of Radiation, driving your Madmax vehicle through a dustbowl, etc.)

Villain's lair. The final dungeon of the campaign, but from the perspective of the chief resident waiting at the end, so it's a mix of the sinister noises of a den of evil and the cozier sounds of a comfortable residence.

Barfight in a tavern is definitely something I should work on!

MichaelGhelfi

Very interesting take. I like that perspective. I'll add it to my todo list

Thanks for the propositions. I'm not used to post-apo content at all, I'll have to check my libraries to see if it's within my reach. It's added to the todo list anyway :)

Interesting concept. I'll speak with Filip to see if/how we can do that. Thanks

I'd be happy if there were more ambiance and SFX usable in sci-fi or space fantasy settings. Maybe some spaceship interior with droning hum of the ventilation systems and some occasional hisses and clicks. Spelljammer and space fantasy stuff! Fantastic space sounds, mystic magitech devices chiming, metallic mechanisms and devices cranking, etc. Desert themed ambiance in the spirit of Dune or Star Wars. I know demand for these might be marginal, but wanted to mention still :)

One idea would be a war camp, for before the battle. With someone barking orders, marching, and sparing. There could also be some groaning SFX for those wounded in post-battle situations. Works with some of the ideas Rob suggested above.
