Ok guys, I've finished the inking phase of the 12 page batch. Usually I consider the coloring part the easiest and quickest of the process, but I'm quite anxious because this time I want to do it properly. Coloring and shading are always the weak parts of my work, I tend to use dark, very saturated palettes that are difficult to read, and I'm fighting it.

With CBM I've the extra handicap of working with character that have more or less established color schemes that can clash if put in the same scene.

I use color masks for preventing this clashing , these are overlays that limit the choice of colors from the palette to a certain outline, but as I said, many characters with different color themes, no one can be excluded.

So I opted for the tetradic color scheme, the one used in media for kids, and it will be this.

I've noticed two things: most of the purples and greens are cut off, but:

Purples tend to look pleasant even when they're dull.

Nobody likes greens when they aren't on leaves. If you look at the color of most of the orcs, they're actually dark-yellow.

So yeah, the very first page will be the most difficult of all, because my task is to come up with a palette that I will keep on using for ten more, including areas of shadow and light.

Wish me luck.
