Orcus, Day 4 - Rasput, a unformed soul (Patreon)
Content
This is how most of the souls in line tend to look: bony coat hangers that use capes to cover their incomplete anatomy. Pecs and arms are the parts they try first to completely reform. That makes a very wonky weight balance. You might have noticed a pretty different style in rendering this time. That's because I'm experimenting, like last year, with something of a painted style. I avoid textures like the plague because my brain can't yet process them, so I'm just applying multiple levels of darkness with a sharp edge. This is a colored grayscale, a process that I hate, but it's necessary to let the brain fully process light and shadows without the extra information of colors. The color ramps are pretty dull indeed, but I found that functional to such an approximated character. It's not the artwork I'm most proud of, but yeah, you have to start from somewhere. This is my personal October challenge: Orcus, journey into a frustratingly thirsty Underworld.
