Orcus, Day 12 - The Dream Demon (Loinclothed) (Patreon)

They're fabulous, they're terrifying, they're Sorieno, the Demon of Dreams. They're the only bridge between the Living and Death Realm and our hero will have to satisfy the whims of the bringer of both dreams and nightmares to talk to the seer that sent him there.This was quite fun, maybe the first design where I relied entirely on my inventive and not fantasy cliche. I needed a demon of dreams, both good and bad, dreams usually happen at night? What are the creatures that you associate with night? Bats and owls. I don't like avies so I went with bats, but Demons need to look bizarre compared to ordinary anthros. So I mashed it with the third nocturnal animal that came to my mind, moths.Since even in this world bugs are animals, just bigger and more intelligent because they fill all the ecological niches left by real-world animals, this creature looks exotic even in the eyes of a guy used to see wolves and bulls as men walking on two legs.Maybe the equivalent of furry art in this world is all about bugs.It was quick because I was short on time, and I'm so upset that I accidentally merged the lineart and sketch layer, and you can see here and there the lines of the sketch.Well, I will use this as the base for future works.As I said before, the pronoun isn't because they're non-binary, but because demons are actually a collective of various manifestations, necessary because what they do needs ubiquity.I use "demon" in the Ancient Greek sense of the word, as beings that go back and forth between the material and spiritual realms and have to do all the heavy lifting and day-to-day work while the Gods are just the "patrons" of a couple of human activities but spend most of their time hanging out in Olympus and fucking over humans.In my setting, this is more or less the same, but it's more openly admitted, and demons actually rank over gods in the eyes of the Dragons. Because at least they do something.This is my personal October challenge: Orcus, journey into a frustratingly horny Underworld.
