The King of the Underworld, Deaco, the Distant Lord observes and administrates his domain from the Spiral Castle. He's the only one that can give formal permission to the hero to leave the Underworld. What will he do to do that? What I like about this guy and this story, in general, is that it gives a place to the Underworld in a world that has been created by a trio of creator gods associated with the Ocean, Earth, and Sky. The Underworld is the fourth of these "biomes" and the Fourth Dragon can be both the son of the three  (yes, three biological fathers, Dragons can do that)  but also their father. His association with death can come both with the elemental powers of the dragons consuming each other since there's raw Void energy left, but also with him being the very first son of the Serpent of the Void, and then being associated with the plane closer to non-existence.I want to play with this ambiguity, and state that no one of the Dragons can remember which one came first since it happened in a yet very chaotic stage of Creation, and nobody wrote that thing down.As you might have guessed from yesterday's pic, recording events has become quite a deal.Speaking of writing, I've discovered that there's a "lost in translation" kind of problem: in English, you tend to use the word Underworld to describe a non-Christian sort of afterlife domain, while in Italian we use the "Aldilà", a portmanteau of prepositions that can be literally translated into "The Beyond."The problem is that while "Underworld" implies a place underground, "Aldilà" doesn't, but they're usually translated into one another because the non-Christian afterlife tends to be an earthly place. But not in my case. The earthy side of my "Beyond" is just one part of the whole, which comprises also watery and airborne environments since it accommodates souls from other species and cultures that don't see in the ground the ultimate receiver of mortal spoils. So yeah, kind of an impasse with the choice of words here. "Underworld" is more familiar but implies a subterranean place, "Afterlife" has more of a connotation of time than space, while "Beyond" sounds so solemn and pointlessly cryptic.I guess I can state that this Underworld is the inside of a Hollow Earth and I would still be technically correct and also get a very cool setting. What do you think?

Odd. Even if given to flight figure ground and rocks be associated strongly with death. Dead things fall, rot, then smell like shit. Hmm I wonder if the more water/sea folk view it less as an element and more creatures. Like sharks or carrion feeders or that sign of feeding by microbes. Either way love to hear the imagination and thoughts put into your world building. Hmm what underworlds in history, folklore, and myth not associated with earth?
