Andrea Acken

So sad. I felt like his relationship with his dad seemed pretty close as a kid yet at the same time I suppose he was a little traditional in his belief of how a man should behave. But to belittle your sons efforts to make you proud all because he likes boys is too sad. My heart hurts for max

Disappointing how his dad responded to him coming out. But, I can relate far too well, my father also had a dream of how I was supposed to turn out and I failed to meet it. When he suspected I was gay, we had a very intense and terrifying conversation about what that would mean. Largely, my responsibility is to carry the family name as the only male that can. My uncle can't have kids, and my sibling is a girl. That being gay would stop that from happening and the only recourse would be for me to be eliminated. As he put it, if the family name has to die it isn't going to be because of some fag. When I got old enough to get break contact with him I did. He still has no idea that his worst nightmare, came true twice over. I never want children and I'm gay.
