In my mind, the faeries have their own spinoff.

Their cute lil chibi ✨️POOFS✨️ of fury when they're angsty! 😅🥰 Also, Z is the *perfect* edgelord faerie for our favorite stubborn furry wolf stud! 🐺 I love them all so much - soooo preeeetty!

Oh gods… I’m so used to them in their plushie forms I forgot how hot the faeries are in their human form… I love how Chéri’s tail fuzzes up when he’s upset! And I love how the most common method of departing a conversation for faeries seems to be turning into a plushie and flying away, the “Faerie Flounce” if you will. Another amazing entry!! Can’t wait for more!

✨️Faerie Flounce✨️ is fucking magical, & it's how I want to exit every conversation & room, henceforth & forevermore!

Gosh King is looking so majestic and adorable. Looks like Adam will have a third panel for his Dad Jokes meme.

Adam Lunter

Ha! I have a bunch of them now!

Adam Lunter

Man, I really feel for poor Chéri… in a way he and Finn were having much the same problem of living up to their full potential. It makes it all that more wonderful that they found each other (even if Finn taxes Chéri’s patience to no end and Finn has to suffer the embarrassment of being micromanaged by a plushie). And this is the hottest I’ve ever seen Záchari! Now I love that big ol’ tsundere even more.

Adam Lunter

The Faerie Flounce ™ I love it!!!

RedRoo

The plot thickens!!!

Cabaret Bara

Haha thank you! And yes, the faeries' turning into their pocket form before leaving is the equivalent of giving a very stern "I said good day, ma'am!"

Cabaret Bara

Omg the Faerie Flounce! Better trademark that now! 👀

Cabaret Bara

Hahaha I can't wait to see what he does with those lol!

Cabaret Bara

Thank you! And I'm glad you noticed the parallel between them! I was also trying to make the faeries' true forms look a bit more "magical", but I guess Z looking "hotter than ever" works just as well haha!

OneLuckyGuy

So excited we’re getting more of Habibi!!! Especially since I love his mortal already 😉

Allan Meyer

Faerie Flounce (tm) accompanied by mandatory burst of glitter.

This page is wondeful, but I need to ask something. 🤔 What purpose do the kawaii plushie forms serve in-universe ? 🧸 I know it's part of the magical girl tropes, yet if I was in their place, I would never transform ! 😅 You'd blend in the human world much better with a change of clothes and saying you have a skin condition that makes you look pink, rather than a talking, flying, shimmery little animal ! It also seems to make you easier to capture, as we saw in the Valentine's Day epilogue, and weaker, like during the fight with Succubussy where all King could do to evade Finn's grasp was wiggle his little limbs around like a baby. 🥺 Now imagine this scene if King still had been in tall mode. 😳 (I mean, he may have ended incapacitated anyway, but at least with his pride intact.)

Benjamin

I think they -can't- be in the mortal world thus.

Benjamin

Oh same. He's looking so good!

Benjamin

Gods damn, this comic page looks so good! Color and lushness! Details and forms~ Loving it!

I am going to let our CFBMA answer the question, but I’ve noticed that this particular space with the pillars is the only place where they have been seen (by us, anyway) in their true forms, and they change into their pocket forms the moment they leave it. Make of that what you will, but it seems to be their “circle of protection,” in a way. And my theory about the pocket forms (which has already been corrected by our CFBMA, but I still like it) is that our human hearts are not mature enough emotionally, so we can’t see anything but the cute plushies.

I'd love to know what the Cryptically Famous Bara Master of Arts has to say.

Adam Lunter

Actually that stands for Current Favorite Bara Manga Artist, but I think I like yours better.

Cabaret Bara

Hehe I'm looking forward to his turn meeting his fated partner 🦊

Cabaret Bara

Well, yes, the meta reason is absolutely a reference to the magical girl trope, of course. Now, for the in-universe explanation... Please keep in mind that some of this is gonna be explained in the comic at a certain point which means you could consider this *SPOILERS* ! ! ! I don't, but you could. Q. Wouldn't they blend better in the human world in their true form? A. Absolutely not lol! Personally, I'd be much more alarmed by a bright green winged dude walking around saying he has a skin condition than I would be by a little guy who can be explained away as a (potentially robotic) plush toy. But they're not supposed to be seen at all to begin with. Q. Aren't they easier to capture in pocket form? A. Yes, but they're also better at sneaking around and hiding, so it's a trade-off, but their priority is usually to not be seen at all by mortals, which is why they can also shapeshift into inconspicuous objects. They also can't change forms if they're restrained and don't have enough space to do so. Q. Aren't they weaker in pocket form? A. Nope, same powers as their true form. Keep in mind that the faeries are glorified magical batteries. They can't do much on their own. Q. But what's the real reason? A. They're forbidden from showing their true form to a mortal by Eros himself and I could get into the many reasons why, but this response is long enough as it is and also, Eros's will is pretty arbitrary to begin with as the gods aren't particularly wise or benevolent. Q. So just because Eros said so, huh? Lame... A. Fine... The main justification Eros gives them is to avoid encouraging mortals to become infatuated with them. They are creatures of divine beauty after all, something akin to a nymph or a succubus. Eros also designed their pocket forms to look inoffensive and cute so that mortals are less intimidated by the idea of letting a divine being into their heart, so Adam isn't entirely wrong with his take, it's just more "by design" and less about mortals not being able to comprehend their existence. Q. That actually makes sense, thanks for- A. But (and that's where I'm making things even MORE complicated lol) the faeries can actually shapeshift into one more form that I haven't shown yet. It's basically a "mortal form" which allows them to somewhat blend in with humans, but it is used only under very specific circumstances. Why? Because Eros said so (see above) and also because that is their most vulnerable form. A divine body can't be destroyed by anything short of divine intervention, but a mortal body... It can be destroyed by catching the flu. Now what is this form used for? You'll have to wait and see... Q. I hate you. A. Thanks 😘 Hope that helped!

Cabaret Bara

Thank yooou 💕 I don't wanna disappoint with this new episode 1! If I'm gonna make y'all sit through a (not) reboot, I'm gonna make it worth your while.

Allan Meyer

Avoid encouraging mortals to become infatuated with them… TOO LATE

Tililou

Oh! I didn’t realize we’d get to see so many fairies so early in the story! And it looks like Zac will be a good pal 🤗

Cabaret Bara

I hope that showing them earlier will help give a bit more context into their nature. Thanks 🐺
