You can "prove" killing is wrong, by revealing that in the setting, killing has some other negative effect, like bad karma being created, or god getting upset by it. So whatever surface-level benefit killing can have, is offset by those larger, unavoidable consequences. I think this resolution would be hackwork, but it could be done.

Howard Blast (Libido Kamen)

If you establish morality as a tangibility, you can use it as a hard consequential element and this actually could be done well as long as the ideas are allowed to develop like any other element. Honestly the idea is interesting enough I'll address it next writing clinic, ways that would be bad development-wise and ways that would be good.

CH

You've just described very nearly the premise of Madoka Magica.

I thought about that later, but isn't Madoka more about emotions being a tangibility than morality?

.

I guess Psycho-Pass fits better in that case, but it also has the Madoka aspect of emotions integrated into it.

CH

If you're talking about how the ideas of "hope and despair" are used in Madoka, I'd say that they're treated as total modes of being rather than simply emotions.

I meant Kyubi explaining the motivation of its species is harvesting the energy of pubescent girl's emotions.
