Sezen Aksu has a very special place for many of us, so I’m genuinely happy to see you discovering her. Hi Sam Sezen Aksu is an absolute LEGENDD everyone knows her songs around turkiye most artists in turkiye had previously covered folk songs but she wrote her own original songs my favourite from her has to be Tükenecegiz her vocals are SO strong in this she’s unmatched if you found her vocals in Gulumse strong she goes to another level in Tukenecegiz, Keskin Bicak "sharp knife" is for me her most emotional song, the lyrics and grief symbolize a sharp knife cutting her . In her performance Sezen Aksu stands on stage for a second reminiscing her two tragedies, her first lover Uzay Heparı dying in a motorcycle accident and the second Onno Tunç who died in a plane crash. Other female singers I'd love if you could check out Yaraladi Bu Ask Beni- Fatma Aydogan and Muhlis Berberoglu cover of a traditional folk song and man the way she sings it is incredible. A personal favourite of my Dad is “Ben Yorulum Hayat” (I’m tired life) the lyrics in this song hit DEEP so emotive Selda Bagcan is another well known female artist she's know for social justice movements and covers of folk songs, Gesi Baglari-Selda Bagcan is so moving especially with the lyrics and context. I highly recommend Gonul and Bu Kalp Seni Unutur Mu-Kikret Kizilok both very somber and slow song about love, Cok Uzaklarda- Nilufer is also amazing sounds so Mediterranean and much like spanish love songs, giant ahh paragraphs mb😂😂😂 there's just so much music in turkiye people don't know about

Müjde Ar is a famous Turkish actress, and Aysel Gürel was her mother, as well as one of Turkey’s most iconic lyricists. Aysel wrote the lyrics of “Firuze” for her daughter Müjde Ar. So the “Firuze” in the song is actually Müjde herself, it’s essentially a mother’s portrait of her daughter and her beauty.
